Charlieb
Hello, I'm taking delivery of my Eglu on Friday and just wondered about the nesting box - do the chickens share it (I'm getting four), or does one use it and the others lay their eggs on the wooden rungs or something?! Apologies if this is really obvious - will be a first time chicken owner this weekend! Charlie
Mrs Frugal
Don't worry, Charlie. If you have a question, we'll try to answer it for you. You only really need one nest box for every 3-4 hens so as the Eglu is only really large enough for a maximum of 4 hens, one nest will be fine. They rarely need to lay at the same time so will take it in turns anyway. Welcome to the forum and the fabulous world of chicken keeping! It's addictive so be warned . TAJ
Mine take it in pecking order turns, so Rye is always last. Sometimes they might be caught short. Since Feb I have only ever had 1 egg on the bars and one in the run out of mainly 3 eggs a day. Tracy
Keanie Bean
Hello and welcome. My chicken que up like its a post office. You can almost see them crossing their legs to hold on, its very funny and you shouldnt have any problems. Sarah.x
chelsea
Welcome to the forum. When we had the 2 eglus they all used to lay in the one nest box anyway - even though they had the choice of 2!! (thats chickens for you )
Charlieb
Thanks everyone for your responses (this is a great forum, I didn't expect to hear anything back so quickly!). I feel much happier now that I know they don't need four individual nesting spots! Very excited about their arrival! Charlie
