jojo2305
which I think I already know the answer to, but thought I'd better double check. Chicken lingo! Trio- two hens and a cockerel? so is a pair going to be a hen and a cockerel?! Any others to be aware of? Thanks.
Egg Lou
Hi Jojo New to chickends myself so not much to add but yes I believe the ones you mentioned are correct and think you can also get a quartet of 3 hens 1 cockerel. I'm sure someone with more knowledge will answer much better than me soon. Lou
ajm200
Hi Jojo, You'll soon learn that there's no such thing as a silly question here.. Usually a trio is two hens and a cockerel so best avoided if you live in an urban area. I've heard stories of people getting a trio from country fairs and dumping the cockerel at the roadside on the way home so personally would avoid buying from breeders offering this combo anyway hope this helps Amanda

clucking mad
trio is 2 hens and 1 cockeral what happens if you have 3 hens and a cockeral, do they share? can you get quite cockerals to avoid hassel with annoying neighbours?
MedusA
I don't think cockerels come in "quiet" variations! You don't need one to be honest. The girls will be qute happy laying unfertilised eggs. It would not be sensible to get a male in an urban setting. I imagine you would have very angry, sleepless neighbours knocking on your door before very long.
