help regarding husbands job

Recommended Posts

Sorry to hear about your hubby,c helsea. I hope he manages to sort things out soon. I'm afraid I have nothing to add that hasn't been said already, but can sympathise as I took voluntary early retirement last year rather than have my working conditions changed.

Hi there, if your husband was under TUPE, he'd have signed new contracts etc and his old employers would still have control of the company (if I remember rightly). i.e. a receptionist working for company X could still be retained there providing the same service, but now paid by company Y. Not sure if I'm explaining it very well, but hopefully that makes sense.

Has your hubby signed a new contract? Or at the very least new terms and conditions? If not, this new employer could be on a bit of a sticky wicket if the old contract clearly laid out overtime/bonuses. Sounds as though he might even have a case for constructive dismissal

The best you can do is contact ACAS - http://www.acas.org.uk/index.aspx?articleid=1461

They can provide advice on contracts and conditions, and provide information on grievances and resolution. They are very good and you can get a lot of free advice.

Hope they can help and this gets resolved in your favour.

That's awful Chelsea

There's been great advice given already, the only suggestion I have to add is take a look at your home/building insurance. Often you get some level of legal cover included. It may be specific to a problem with the house but sometimes the cover is broader and may include a legal helpline you can call for advice.

thanks all. :)

the meeting was ok, but there was no union rep present. Apparently the company said this was a "casual" meeting and not an official one :? Anyway I wouldnt trust them as far as i could throw them and it wouldnt surprise me if they were trying to do all this "hush hush" because all of the other companies they have "taken over" dont have employees in unions.

Anyway, there is another meeting on the 2nd of June. Thanks for the ACAS link (hubby considering contacting them).

Think the company are going down the pan though, before the takeover hubbys old employer were a reknowned family owned company established over 100 years with a fabulous reputation, - now been taken over by people who have no clue what they are doing, everything is going wrong and this new company are not just upsetting employees but farmers and suppliers aswell.

The saga continues..........
