Away for the weekend

Recommended Posts

We are going away from Friday morning until Monday lunchtime & for the first time we are leaving the flocks to fend for themselves

Now in theory all will be fine.I will put out extra food & 2 Superglugs just in case, but as the time gets closer,I am getting more & more uneasy about it :?

Also, how many eggs do you reckon I will come home to? 8)

I frequently leave mine overnight or longer - plenty of food, lots of water (this is a worry for me at the moment as I'm still not sure if they are drinking out of the Superglug or not) and something to keep them entertained, a cabbage hung up in the run, say.

25 eggs and a double-yolker?

Cinnamon glad you posted this. I have only had my girls for 3 weeks and we are going away for 3 nights, I am not really enthusiastic  We have the neighbours coming in to check on them but I am panicing they will let them out by mistake (the mad rush for the run door when they see me coming for a freerange) and then not be able to get them back in

They will probably go through a grub in two days so the neighbours will have to come and top up water and food - although I could buy a second water dispenser (they have never liked the superglug and I haven't pushed it).

Luckily only one of my 7 is laying and that is eratic. So no issue with eggs. Hope we both feel okay about it when we come back - I am sure it will be fine but am still dreading it. I shut them in the Cube every night and let them out at 6.30am - can't see the neighbours doing that so will be leaving the Cube door open. Hopefully our Run is secure enough :?

At least yours will be locked in - I have said to my neighbour that they can leave the Cube door open at night (didn't want to get them to let them out in the morning in case they forgot!) so I am now panicing about foxes even though our run should be okay
