Hi Snowy

Didn't know you could give them apple cores!

It wasn't so much giving them apple cores as them mugging the children and snatching them  Now I know they like them, I peel the kids apples, slice the apple into a dish and save the core for the chooks. They love them - one will grab it and they all chase her round the garden, hilarious

-when one will venture out and they all race after her so that they can be together

-the way puffy stands with one foot in the air in the middle of walking

-the way after having just treated them for mites they take a dustbath and rub it all off again!

- the way one always runs along the outside of the run when you throw treats inside

- the way they immediately start kicking soil etc onto a path you've just swept

- the way Maisie's thwarting my attempts to block her access to the driveway :?

- the lovely gentle clucking I can hear before I see them when ES brings one into the house :)

- cuddles with my new ex-batts

- watching them submerge their whole heads and necks into the bowl of water when they very first discovered it and all stood there dripping

- the way they come running over when we go out to see them

- seeing them enjoy treats they have never know such as sweetcorn and pasta

Hopefully can add some more to this list day by day! :D

- my Cochin girly snuggling up to me when I was sitting on the bench and she was perching behind

- the way they run across the garden like little kids

- and when they perch on something high, they look frightened to jump down

-and when they finally pluck up courage to jump, their feet make a little 'smack' on the ground!

Helloooo all awwwwww'ers :)

All such lovely pleasures, yep me too its just such an honour & privilege.

Mine: when i call 'ladies' or 'girlies', ahem in a horrendously high pitched shriek, not sure why ladies cant be called in lower tones (poor neighbours) - however when the chooks hear & all come immediately running, i just love the way their little heads come forward, their wings out & some so enthusiastic they take off :)

When Ms Greedy Guts (anyone of the pepperpots) can't wait until i sit down on the steps to give them a treat & decides she'll take her chances and launches herself up into a huge jump to attempt to get the grapes first!!!

'Sports day' . . .. . spaghetti treats when they run around the lawn after who ever gets the spaghetti first.

When chasing a fly . .they dart & slip & never give up .. so fast & funny.

When they crouch unexpectedly , then you stroke them & they make that sweet adorable quiet funny purring, chirping sound.

When they all come up the steep old steps in an orderly file one by one and i look down and see a trail of single file chickens ascending ...soooo cute ( must try to take a photie )

How Agnes stands guard & tries to chase off any poor bird that decides to land on 'her lawn' .

Just watching them, at any time is so lovely.

when the two big girls are so busy squabbling over some morsel they don't notice when little madam Bloolay sneaks in and steals it

the confusion on their faces when they realise it's gone just cracks me up 8)

The way tiny little Racey Lacey puffs herself out and chases our big old staffordshire bull terrier right up the garden, pecking his bum, when she's broody

Wow didn't think of doing this either - mine did love bits of apple from the kids apples the other day. What can I add:

Roast finding a worm or anything and then the others running around the grass after her, complete with sounds and enthusiastic flapping;

Now being able to pick up my once flighty white star without her even struggling;

The instantaneous surge back into their run if they think the corn is coming - even when I have just got my bucket and gloves from that corner to poo pick

Poor Rosie letting my DD pick her up every second and not giving out!

Any egg arriving in the nest :D

Might have to brave the torrential rain and go and see them now :D

Bloomers demanding to be picked up by pecking my toes and looking up expectantly and then laying her head on my shoulder and making those funny dinosaur purring noises.

Astrid letting herself be picked up and then sitting on my lap for almost a minute without jumping away ... and the way she hangs around waiting for me to pick her up.

To see little Sunset's 'old bare bottom' all healed up and her glorious new tail feathers. And to find out she's now so happy and healthy that she's starting laying lovely blue eggs.

How the two boys have stopped fighting each other since they both have their groups of 'girlfriends'.

Cuca (the first hen we had) still bossy and running away iike mad when I go in with treats, missing on all the fun because she's and always has been a miseryguts (I suppose there has to be one!) - and has laid 4 eggs in her whole life! (If I wasn't a softy she'd have been on the pot ages ago!

Just me sitting amongst them (on an upside-down plastic box) and just chicken watching. Bloomers jumping and sitting on my lap being stroked and overlooking all the other hens with an air of superiority.

The fact that they're all gorgeous in different ways and I love them to bits. :P

Well I think that covers everything then. Just as I thought of something it would be one someone else's post.

Only one I could add, having Eggluntine sitting on the garden fork as you try to turn over soil so she can be the first to get whatever is behind the fork when you turn the soil.

Lovely, but scary worried I will catch her feet.

I love it when the spade comes out and they run straight to it for hope of worms :)

I love it when they play tug or war with worms or snails etc

I love the moment you let out the run to free range and they go mental as if its all new again and again each day :!::)

I love the smell of their heads :)

I never thought for one minute I would fall in love them all :D
