The most divine cupcakes

Isn't "cupcake" the American term for "fairy cake"? Which do people here prefer/use?

To me, a fairy cake denotes something tiny, exquisite and magical. I will be hosting a local LETS meeting in July, so perhaps that's the time to try my own hand at making some. I love the idea of using crushed fruit to colour the icing!

I like the sound and feel of the word cupcake in my mouth. Must be the alliteration :D I also agree with you about the term fairy cake.

I think we should call them fairy cupcakes!

i did something similar for my brotherin law's wedding. 150 cup cakes with pink and brown icing, all with 2 little golden hearts on the top. the pink were normal sponge and the brown icing was chocolate.

they were presented on a tier with pink and brown feathers strewn all over them. it lookes quite good, even if i do say so myself. :D

Oh wow.... Just read this thread (a bit slow, I know), as I was looking for fairy cakes ideas for a charity sale at school tomorrow (a bit late, I know), and wow.... they are sooooo beautiful... Hillfamily, that cupcake cake is absolutely lovely...

I wish I'd known of that site a few weeks ago... a friend of mine had her sixth baby, and a box of those with some balloons would have made a lovely presents for her and her family...

Such a sweet (no pun intended) idea for a present...
