Ziggy
I woke up this morning to the sound of frantic crows out in the garden... soon followed by the sound of frantic chickens bokboking like the end of the world had come... rushed out of bed to the window, fearing Mr Fox was hanging around, and sure enough, as soon as I pull the curtain, there goes a HUGE fox trotting very slowly across the lawn, away from the chooks... Now guess what is coming right behind the fox?? Pompom the cat... slowly and cautiously yet steadily pushing the fox out... I got scared for the cat!! He looked tiny in comparison to the fox!! I have not heard of any cases myself, but have read that it's possible for foxes to take on cats... I gallopped downstairs to get in the garden, by which time the fox had gone, and Pompom came running proudly back for a big hug... What's more, it's his birthday today!!! What a way to show you're all grown up on your very first birthday!! He has for a while established himself as the dominant cat of the house, and rules like a gentle leader... patrolls the garden constantly, and checks everything that goes in and out... he is one of the two males cats (though the five of them are all neutered), and the only semi-long haired one... he's never been aggressive (to cats or people) but somehow there is no doubt about the position he has taken as dominant... he looks the part too, with all the fluff!! Here's a picture of him... Happy birthday Pompom (and Shaman and Splodge)... I just hope he keeps safe, I wasn't too keen on him taking on a fox!! Pompom the one year old hero: His brother and sister, also 1 year old today: And the three of them when they were babies:

Omletina Kyckling
Happy Birthday Pompom and Shaman and Splodge and congratulations to Pompom the Great Tabby Hunter, I am mightily impressed. I shall be showing this email to my two boys and telling them that chasing out foxes has been put onto their list of jobs, and that they can replace catching swallows with this one, as I've had 7 in this week..... Good job Pompom!! (beautiful cats, by the way!) Diane
Aunty e
Our big neutered fluffy boy Arthur keeps the foxes out of our garden too (which is handy when you have an idiot husband who leaves them out until midnight). But what a brave boy to do it on his first birthday!
Ziggy
I shall be showing this email to my two boys and telling them that chasing out foxes has been put onto their list of jobs Pompom won't be popular with them, I think... Thanks everyone, I'll pass your lovely messages on to my fluff ball here...

Rhapsody
Well done that cat! When we lived in London we used to have an enormous three-legged cat called Bentley (RIP) who used to take on foxes. It was quite a sight seeing them fly out of the garden with Bentley hopping after them. He wasn't scared of anything

Helly Welly
Yey, what a brave cat! Many happy returns of the day to all three cuties. I'd love a kitten but OH says no We already have a 13 year old cat and i think he's worried that Henry wouldn't appreciate a young kitten driving him up the wall.
