Hi

I see from photos that some of you have planks fastened around the bottom of your runs...I'm assuming to keep the auboise from being kicked everywhere. How do you fasten them on, and is there an optimum width for them to be?

Thanks

as my run is basically built up of panels put together, the pieces of wood (planks) are slotted down the bottom of the panel (if that makes sense) , although we didn't originally have these, but it was quickly decided we needed to.

We've then added sleepers all the way around the run for added security to the run from digging etc...I almost broke my back lifting them with my hubbie.

Buy some gravel boards from a local builders merchants, much cheaper than B&Q or Do it all. Buy some 1 1/2 inch number 10 bolts with nuts or wing nuts. then just drill holes where needed and bolt on the outside of the run.

For the front where the door is I put the boards on the inside so I can still open door and chickens can still get out.

On the rear you have to cut the boards a little short so that you can still put the wheel arms down if you want to move the cube.

Hope this helps

Thanks for all the responses!

We have bamboo roll around our cube and run. We have quite a few bamboo plants in the garden so thought it would match :)

I tied it in with garden wire. It works quite well.

Seagazer - we're going to be buying some of what I think you're talking about for raising the height of our fence cheaply. Is there any chance you could post a photo as I'm not sure I'm envisaging what you're saying properly and it sounds like a good, attractive alternative to boards?

Thanks
