chelsea
As some of you may or may not know we are going to Wembley this Saturday to watch the amazing Foo Fighters. Im quite anxious as I have never attended a gig of this scale before and we are standing (brave I know). Can any of you good omlet people suggest things I may need to take or even to avoid taking with me? I know we cant take bottled drinks as they remove the caps upon entry and leave you with a capless bottle We arrive at Wembley at 15.15pm and the concert ends approx 11pm - so it will be a long day. Any ideas/suggestions welcome. Edited June 8, 2008 by Guest
theherd123
A blow up cushion to sit on while you are waiting for the gig to start - the plastic stuff they use to cover the pitch does your bum no favours at all!
Tina C
I never go anywhere without a bottle of water - can you secrete a spare top about your person? If you are not under cover you may need a waterproof If the gig is not going to be too long I would try and take as little as possible and do away with the backpack altogether? Have a lovely time. chelsea
my bum comes with its own cushion Emma!! no need for extra padding !! thanks though, its things like that I was thinking of (things i wouldnt immediately think of)
Jules.
Bin Bags! To sit on to keep you off the grass if it is damp, & to cover you if it rains!

Good idea about the secret bottle top stashing Tina! we dont really want to take a backpack, but we have a 3.5 hour journey so will be leaving home at 10am and not getting to Wembley till after 3pm so we need to take food and drink and stuff, plus I would like to avoid buying food at the venue. Guest
Loo roll, or a pack of tissues in case you go to the loo. These places NEVER have any loo roll left.

lisa33
Toilet roll / tissues are essentials & wet wipes / antiseptic hand gel stuff. I have a stash of very clean washed out sun tan lotion bottles. In these I place measures of vodka. I'm not tight but have you seen how much they charge for a drink at these places. A hat to prevent sun stroke (ouch!! I just fell of my chair laughing at the thought of sun stroke in England in June)
Tara.F
you can usually take bagged drinks (like capri sun). full, capped bottles make effective missiles which is why they are banned. If you remove the cardboard from a box of wine you are left with a nice silver bag with a tap loo roll is a must! some sweeties or chewing gum (for when your throat is ho"Ooops, word censored!" from singing) and plenty of snacks! the food and drinks are where wembley makes it's money! A list (on paper) of your friends mobile phone numbers (in case yours is lost/stolen and you get seperated) The obligatory bin bag (as mentioned earlier) and split your money and secret it in several different places so if you lose /get pickpocketed you have a reserve you almost certainly won't be pickpocketed by the way....but I used to work at wembly and it happens to a tiny percentage of people. so, you know....just in case! have a fab time
chelsea
great advice everyone thanks very much I will definitely take all your ideas on board Tara (the phone number idea and seperating money is excellent). As you have worked at Wembley is it ok that I take food of my own into the venue? ( it wont get confiscated will it? )
Ain't Nobody Here
Trying to think of something to help you find your OH(?) again if you have to go to the loo . Maybe you just have to always go together? A silly hat or a flag to wave might not be very .
Tara.F
I worked there a while back, when it was the old stadium, but we certainly allowed folk to take their own food in (provided it was sensibly packaged). any problems though, just claim to be diabetic
Jules.
What about a helium balloon to help you find each other if one of you goes to the toliet? It's very confusing " on the ground" to find someone in a large crowd ( I know from experience )
Charlottechicken
Lidl sell wet toilet wipes in a box of 40, which are individually wrapped so you can always have one or two with you rather than carry a whole box. They are called Ciencamille soft & fresh sachets. Really handy things to carry around all the time. Have a great time on Saturday
chelsea
thanks all! the wet wipes and loo roll are an absolute must then! Good idea about spotting OH in the crowd, I dont know whether a helium balloon is an option....I reckon someone smart alec would pop it for a laugh and I'd be stranded!! Clash City Rocker
Hat, Sunblock, it's a real sun trap in certain parts of the stadium. You'll get into the seats really easily as the day goes on, 3 sides of the stadium is always open. Fleece for the evening because once the sun goes below the roof level it's only going to get cooler. Who's the support acts? if it's no-one you want to see then catch the tube away from wembley and into Central London for sight seeing and the food and drink will be cheaper, (last year a pie & pint was about £8.00 in the stadium). The main band won't be on before about 8.00 pm so you'll have plenty of time. Binoculars if you have any. Camera. Also have a walk around the stadium, inside and out there are a few things to see at various points (especially VIP entrance) Buy any souvenirs from outside the stadium and not inside. chelsea
thanks for the info clash. Was a bit disappointed with the support. Supergrass (bit ancient) and the futureheads (never heard of them!) seeing as its a Wembley gig sponsored by radio 1 we thought it would be better. The foos are scheduled to play a 2,5 hour set and rumour has it that Queen (roger taylor/brian may) might join them on stage as a surprise. I forgot about the camera...so nice one!
