Eglu Cost

Recommended Posts

I have been considering getting an Eglu for quite some time, but I haven't been able to justify paying the premium price tag. Also second hand Eglu's hold their value really well, so that isn't really a viable option for me either.

Anyway after a bit of searching around on the net, I actually found out that Omlet are selling the same Eglu cheaper in the USA!

Right now you could buy it from the Omlet site for £339.99 (Not including delivery).

Or you could order the same product in the USA from Omlets USA website for just £253.18 (Not including delivery) at the current exchange rate. :?

Why is it that living in the UK we are always expected to pay more for the same product, than in the rest of the world?

Do we have "mugs" written on our faces or something?

The government must be raking it in then!:wink::lol:

Although even when taking our 17.5% tax into account, the product is still cheaper in the USA.

Oh well, that's what life is like in the UK I suppose...

Just look at the delivery charge in America though - this was on the forum a number of weeks ago - from memory its £175 in the US minimum, therefore those in US pay a total price that is similar (if not more) than in the UK currently.

That is quite correct! I purposely didn't take either of the delivery charges into account, because you would expect to pay more delivery to have a large, heavy product shipped across the world and imported into a foreign country.

Also in theory, the cost of the actual product should not be adjusted to take delivery costs into account.

I'm still considering the Eglu though, I'm still saving up the egg money!

So the cost hasn't entirely put me off, it's just delayed the time it takes for me to get it...:lol:

Exchange rates, taxes, and what the market will put up with. In the UK people are much more prepared to spend that type of money on that type of product than would be the case in most of the USA; ultimately a business will price things according to what they can profitably charge.

Also products prices change as their lifecycle continues. When I bought my eglu it was cheaper than it was now definitely. Eglu in the USA is a considerably newer product in its ascension stage but has been going longer here and despite the increasing popularity is probably in its maturity stage.

Now you see for me that is a really big selling point - the fact that I can ebay my Eglus should I want to at some point & not lose out money wise :D

If you are really keen to get one Offspring, then keep a sharp eye on the 'Eglus for sale' page here, as they do come up now & again & are often a fair bit cheaper.

You could post a wanted message too

Either way, when you do get one I can promise you that you will not be dissapointed 8)
