Have a look in the cube section as I created a "flap" to avoid doing just this Can't help with Eglu doors though as not seen one of these runs so cannot come up with a suggestion! charliechick
Hi Yolky, Ive been doing just that this afternoon. You have to go right into the run Im afraid I let my 4 girls out this afternoon for the first time as Ive had them a week today now. Its a bit of a case of wiggle and shuffle and u can't avoid getting poo on ur knees really, the best way is like u said poo pick starting from the door and go in. I find its best having latex gloves on. I also changed the cube round last fri as the grass was gross hope it grows back soon, it looks like Ive been camping for a week in that spot. Stevie
If your Eglu is on grass-try using a stiff brush and drag them towards the door. If you have it on chippings-a rake might be best.
Sandychick
Oh, I don't like the sound of kneeling on poo! I've got Auboise in the eglu run, so I rake it all to the door end, sift through it with a garden hand fork and trowel and rake it all back. If the rake (or your arms!) isn't long enough to reach the top bit, you can fit a rake through the eglu door to move it to a reachable distance from the run door. The Brown Clan
I also do this with a rake every night when girls gone to bed although been raining alot recently and been hard to get them out ( on mud )am thinking about putting something else in run floor to make it easier to clean might try auboise, as mixed mud and poo a bit whiffy now !!!!, I also follow them round with a trowel when out in garden

Egluntyne
I've used a spoon tied to a bamboo cane to move it along to the door before now.
Yolky
Egluntine you are a genius! Thank you. The bokashi seems to be taking effect now and their poo seems to be nice and stiff (never thought I would say that about chicken poo )

TAJ
I just use a rake and then spread some more bedding on the top until it gets a full clean out. Tracy

Valkyrie
Our girls stopped eating their pellets from the grub - too much goodies in the garden. So as we were giving corn treats from my mums ancient glass dishes at night, we put some pellets in those - they are certainly finishing their pellets now. So we still have the grub in the cube, and occasionally gets munched and the dish under a garden chair, so that they don't have to bother going back in the cube run. You have to be so devious with chickens!
