A round of applause for good service

Recommended Posts

After some over-enthusiastic scrubbing with my Domotec steam cleaner a bit broke into pieces  . I called them to see if I could buy a replacement bit but a lovely woman immediately said she'd send me one for free. It arrived 2 days later :D8) .

The staff in my local Nationwide were so friendly and helpful it was a pleasure to be in there! Pity the online side of Nationwide mucked it up in the first place  .

Another good thread! 8)

Before Christmas I bought the boys a new pair of winter shoes each from an independant shoe shop in Market Harborough. Don't normally shop there as they are quite expensive, but these were both in the sale. Matthew tried on two pairs, both fit and he chose the pair he liked best. Two days later he had huge blisters on his ankles :( I took the shoes back in desperation, wanted to buy the second pair anyway, but just wanted them to know what had happened. They adjusted the original pair so that they didn't rub; gave me another whopping discount on the second pair of shoes and a promise of a full refund if the original pair remained unwearable! 8) Worth paying the extra for that kind of service in the future! :D

We also had good service from a local independent shoe shop. I bought my ED a pair of shoes which cost nearly £50. They were pump style ones with a strap across the middle to keep them on and 6 weeks later the strap came off one of them. We thought that after 6 weeks they would say that she had abused them. We were lucky that we saw the same person who had originally measured her and they offered replacement shoes, she couldn't find any that she liked or fthat fitted properly so they gave us a full refund :D

I'd forgotten about my good JL experience - I'd needed a new dressing gown, and as we were in London for something else, Phil suggested that he drop me off at JL to get one and he'd pick me up an hour later.

After wasting time browsing in the household stuff  , I found a lovely fluffy white dressing gown and bought it. When I got it home, I found that the finishing was poor around one of the pockets (difficult to see in white on white), with ragged bits on the edges, so I emailed the customer services dept. They called me back to discuss the problem and said that they'd send me out a replacement straight away. I said that if they sent me a postage free bag I'd be happy to send the original one back... but they said to just keep it. So now I have two big fluffy white dressing gowns 8):D

I have to give Stokke a pat on the back.

I bought an unused carrycot for my Stokke Xplory pushchair from Ebay. It arrived and there were bits missing. I think that it must have arrived at the shop that way and when a customer returned it they just sold it on Ebay.

Anyway I got no help from the seller so I contacted Stokke by email in Belgium. I told them I'd borrowed it from a friend and could I buy the bits I needed. They sent me all the bits free of charge. I was really impressed. Unfortunately I didn't use it as I use a sling all the time

I bought an OKI printer which didn't seem to work properly when I got it home. A call to their technical support was quickly answered, and the nice gentleman talked me through what to do. We soon discovered that the blue toner cartridge had exploded inside the machine in transit. I had a brand new machine delivered to my door the next morning, and the broken one was collected the next day.

I would recommend OKI to anyone needing a laser printer. They were first class all the way.

Dial-a tv, their a renatl company for many electrical goods. We have a dishwasher plus couple other items. Nevr had a problem in the past, always quick to come and replace things when needed.

My dishawasher died so they replaced with a recond. one, was really noisy so brought me another recon. which didn't work properly

hubby said send them all back and we would buy new, i rang to ask them to pick them all up and they offered to send a brand new dishwasher (which i insisted on anyway) and halved my monthly payments :D so giving them another chance as too cheap to refuse now lol

Egluntine, is the JL store in Sheffield still Cole Brothers? I lived in your fair city until I was 18 but have not been back for some years now :(
Sorry jlo...only just seen your question.

Officially it is John Lewis....but naturally to every Sheffielder it is still "Coles", just as "Coles corner" (Richard Hawley) will forever remain so to older Sheffielders, even though the store moved from that spot about 40 years ago. :D

Coles is about to be demolished and all the properties on Cambbridge street are going too.

And guess what....the "new" Fire station, which won every architectural award going, a few years ago , is also coming down. The new "Coles" will be replacing it.

Thumbs up to a bigger Coles, but a massive thumbs down from all Sheffielders to the wanton destruction of many fine old buildings.

Sorry...slight digression from original topic.
