My home-made run is up-and-running!

Recommended Posts

It has been completed today, all there is to do is a spot of painting on the wood we have used to attach the glug, as we thought the weldmesh might not take the weight of the water with it being attached to the run frame with staples. The run is on a skirt of paving slabs, with soil in the middle. I'm going to customise it with perches, but that will have to wait until after the weekend! I will also do some planting around the edges, to blend it in.

My run is 6 by 9 feet, & just over 5 feet tall- it's bespoke for me!

I went from this in May 07, my red eglu & standard run

I used Cinnamons' idea of putting some left-over roofing over the top of the glug to stop the girls pooing in it- thanks Sarah, great idea! All I need now is for the chooks to actually learn how to use the glug before tomorrow! They have all been shown by me how to use it ( not literally- I have held their beaks up to it ), & they have no other water source so I hope that they get the hang of it quick!

The run takes up less garden than the netted off area did, so there has been no more intrusuion onto our "football pitch".

I'm really pleased with it, both the way it looks & its size.

That is really good Jules, shame I am not closer to you or I would be tempted to buy the other half from you. I am working on getting the husband to make me a run for the girls.

Same here.. very inspiring run.. would also buy the rest if I was only closer :?
