Guest
I bought a glass etching kit ages ago and some glass shapes like these with holes in so you can thread ribbon through them http://www.fredaldous.co.uk/shop_images/product_fullsize/251750009.jpg I was going to etch simple christmas designs on them, snowmen, candy canes etc but never got round to it. I was thinking I MIGHT try etching some chicken designs onto them. They could be hung on Christmas trees or anywhere you like really. All I would do is print off a design like this one for example http://www.jerardlessenterprises.com/ctgoodeats/ChickenDrawingBlk-Wht2.jpg unless I can find a better one and then copy the design onto the glass blanks. When I get time, I'll do one and put up a photo on here so you can get a better idea but what do you think?

jackiepoppies
Like it lots How about a set of 4..all slightly different? Would be a really nice gift that could be handed down for posterity! You could also personalise .....kids names, chickens names, pets names etc.etc. ....lots of ideas! Jackiex
Guest
thanks for the feedback so far, Some great ideas about sets/names etc. I might even get some jam jars and etch on those so people can put their own jams/chutneys etc in the jars. Just an idea at this stage as I'm not sure how difficult it would be to etch on a curved surface but I can practice on an old jam jar. xxx
Chickvic
YES! That would look great on my tree along with all my other bits.
Lesley
They would look great! I've never tried etching - I would think it would be difficult on a curved surface?
Guest
thanks all, actually 'etching' isn't the correct term. I have an egraving set but I also have glass etching cream (which is actually a very potent acid!) and some stencils to go with it but none of chickens unfortunately! So I can etch and engrave. I'm hoping to be able to engrave the chickens, free hand, but will need to practice first! I'll let you know how it goes.
