Gina says "Hi"!

Yeah its great having big knockers. I've gone from an A cup to a D cup. Shame is that they are untouchable. If you did you'd get an eyeful of milk.

Yes, mine are slowly shrinking :( However as I am not feeding it is great not to have to watch what you eat and drink :D Luca was not very keen on red wine

Jelonet is very widely used for all kinds of minor abrasions where you don't want the dressing to stick, burns definitely, but also all manner of s"Ooops, word censored!"es and grazes. Great stuff. It's gauze liberally covered in soft paraffin (along the same lines as Vaseline), cooling & soothing and non-adherent, although it shouldn't be left on for too long- for a wound maybe 2-3 days. I've never heard of it used for cracked nipples, I'm more familiar with Kamillosan & cold green cabbage leaves for those, but I can see why Jelonet might work.

I wonder if I can get Jelonet from a chemist? I think I'm kidding myself that its healing. I think I've now got the beginnings of mastitus.

Yeah it is a pain watching what you eat. Spend all the pregnancy craving stilton, pate, wine and forget to gorge on strawberries and and spicy food - both no go now. My organic veg lady gave us and extra punnet of strawberries as a pressie 'for the baby'. I accepted gracefully knowing that they would be eaten with relish by the family and I would have to watch. Did try one.

Also had to pick the jalopeno peppers out of my salad wrap that I had so lovingly prepared.

Still its only a short while and a small sacrifice really considering the pain these foods could give your baby and the difficulty getting them to settle.

Diana, mastitis can be very painful :(:( . Poor you. Best nip it in the bud....I'd suggest see your GP and get some antibiotics if you think that's developing.

Jelonet is available from a chemist I'm sure- not a prescription only thing. But it's no antibacterial/ antibiotic properties, very soothing & healing and obviously not a problem with breast feeding, but not likely to go anywhere towards resolving an infection like mastitis.

Sorry Clare, it makes a change for me to get anywhere first :lol::lol:

Draining the affected duct of milk by massaging down (or up, depending on the affected duct) is a great idea- the affected area in mastitis is generally pretty obvious, red, inflammed, wedge shaped, and can help with clearing it, but generally because mastitis is such an unpleasant infection and can affect feeding, also because the bacteria are able to enter through cracked nipples general opinion tends to be to reach for the antibiotics as often massage etc aren't effective enough, quick enough. I'd recommend the massage bit as well, whether you use antibiotics or not.

If you eat strawberries baby gets wind apparently. I've just eaten some freshly delivered hampshire strawberries :D - we shall see. I was up between 4am and 7am trying to get wind out of Archie and I hadn't even eaten strawberries so it can't get any worse. In the end he fell asleep upright on my chest.

It is tough. I said to Erik that breast feeding is the hardest thing I have ever had to do. Everyone says I look great even though I haven't had much sleep for three and a half weeks. I put it down to the fact that they are being sweet or that my sheer happiness shines through. I am so happy to have three lovely children and a lovely husband. Arrhh

A friend of mine used to drink a small glass of red wine when doing the late evening feed.

Thomas slept through the night

Good idea on the wine.

The other evening when I was in the Omlet Bar :!: I had two glasses of white wine. It didn't help that night but the next day he was very sleepy. So it backfired a bit due to the delay in the alcohol reaching the milk. I'm not sure what the time lag is from what you eat reaching your milk supply. I don't want to start drinking wine for breasfast

I'll still go ahead with the wine tonight - it will be Friday night after all. :D

Ahh!

But I understand you can drink in moderation depending on the antibitotics (Molly the Colly told me and you have to believe a dog  )

I told you that Mel - I know I'm rough but jeez!

It is true that dependant on the antibiotic a SMALL amount (as in a glass not a box of wine) is ok but if you are currently taking METRONIDAZOLE tablets do NOT touch a drop or you will be violently ill.

I suppose I could start a thread for medicinal review as in "can I take this with that safely?" kinda thing and I could refer all queries to Joey!

Hmnnn How much could I charge for that do you reckon!!.........

Hello Gina - right I'm gonna eat strawberries now if you are.

Had two glasses of champagne and a large glass of red at a party last night!! :D Archie slept the whole time in the pouch 7.30pm to 1am!! and that was before he'd gotten my alcholic milk!! Mastitis pretty much gone :D , nipple pretty much healed :D , getting a little bit more sleep :D . Archie has a bit of a rash - maybe heat, maybe a reaction to my antibiotics? Seeing health visitor tomorrow.

Off to bed soon myself - sorry to hear Mikey ill - get well soon.

Night night

Oh just remembered Erik is wearing his new omlet boxers.......father's day pressie! :D

Well done yummy mummies! Glad to hear it's going better now. Just a quick note to say that I once combined Metronidazole with a HALF pint of weak cider and was violently, horrifically ill. But never had any problems with a mug of mulled wine to wash down antibiotics for my yearly bronchitis attack! I think babies would really like a smidge of mulled wine with supper, or possibly Pimms.....
