Nobody told me....

Recommended Posts

.... That I would spend all my time sitting outside the chicken run with a cup of tea instead of doing the dishes, the ironing, the hoovering.......

.....that I would find their gentle "bok bok" so cute and calming. :D

Also is there any reason why, when I change their straw and paper in the nesting boxes, that within 1 hour its emptied out onto the floor? One of them is definately sleeping in there too as there has been great big solid poo's in the same box 2 mornings running.

Clementine let me stroke her yesterday when she was in the nest box, but then tried to escape through the open door!!

This is day 4 today, shall I start handling them now do you think?

Hmmmm, are you sure . . i'm sure chicken keeping comes with a warning

W A R N I N G

Chicken keeping is hazardous to 'NORMAL' life as you know it.

Chicken keeping means your life & home will never be the same.

Chicken keeping is seriously addictive

Chicken keeping can seriously damage your relationship with the hoover, the duster, the cooking, general cleaning & preparing.

Chicken Keeping can cause serious harm to any established relationships

Chicken keeping means you will bore anyone who will listen about the thrill of egg collecting, the joy of your first egg & the endless chicken funny antics.

Chicken keeping mean you will be late for work, you will be found wandering in the garden with chicken affectionately held under arm whispering sweet nothings into her little ears.

Chicken Keeping means you will have your first cuppa & last drinkie in the garden, that sunrise & sundown will never be the same again.

Chicken Keeping will change your priorities .

Chicken Keeping will bring about fascinating discussions on poo, mites, lice & vents

Chicken Keeping means your logical mind will be captivated by the illogical pleasures of bird watching.

Chicken keeping means you will run into the garden naked except for wellies when you hear a fox or any sound of danger in the middle of the night.

Chicken keeping means you will lose any sense of time, any sense of seriousness within you.

I could go on but ooh i have to go outside . .i have 8 chickens to forage & range with ;)

Last night after a hot day we had rain but the girls had not been out of their run so I sat outside with an umbrella so that they could go out in the garden for an hour or so. Mad or chook lover :?:lol:

As we are in the country I dare not risk letting them out in the garden without someone being out with them.

Tee hee Olly, me neither the alliance was more of a polite introduction, mutual respect from a distance .the odd fleeting moment to share - hurried but never quire establishing the meticulous & long lasting pleasures. What ever passion & enthusiasm that once existed is no longer passionate at all. . pride, time consumption - oh what a chore .. .tee hee no love lost there .. now i settle & make do with just the bare essentials of making good :D

cleanliness next to godliness .. not when you have chickens!!

we bought a micromark cctv wireless camera from b&q it is black and white tv with a wireless camera which is in the coop...we have bought an extra tv and added it to the fencing in the garden so we can see the outside run... it's infra red so we can watch them sleeping too...lol very sad existence we lead... we leave the coop door open at night so its nice to see they are all settled for sleep before we go to bed... and we can see when they have laid for us! it's well worth the money believe me.
