Ex Batt Donation ?

Recommended Posts

Hi Laura,

No need to feel paranoid, when we picked up our 4 ex batts we gave the lady £10 and she was very pleased with that. We felt that at least it would buy a bag of feed for all her temporary residents.

I know that these wonderful people who give so much of their spare time to organisations like the BHWT, do have overheads like petrol and phone call bills etc. So by making a small donation we both felt we were at least making a small contribution to the cause.

I would add that our girls have repaid us many times over in the enjoyment that they have given us, and your life will never be the same again.:lol:

Kind regards

Any donations are gratefully recieved but the most important thing is that the hens are given a good home :D . I helped at several rescues (quite miss the Essex team tbh....keep on with the good work guys  ). When I was helping the requested donation was 50p per hen, but I'm not sure if that's still correct :? , a few people gave exactly the money requested, most gave either £5 or £10 for 3 hens, a few gave significantly more. Rest assured any donations made will be put to extremely good use :D :

It's all about what you can afford and what you choose to donate.

I was told that 50p was the minimum donation, but I gave £20 for 4. When took on my rescue rabbit, I had to pay £30 (but they did cover spaying costs and mixi jab so actually saved me £20).

It probably also cost me about £10 in petrol to collect them, £100 for a coop to put them in - so in total £20 donation didn't seem a lot - but I was just happy to be able to give them a new home.

They asked for 50p per hen when I collected mine and I gave them £20 for my six (I was expecting to give £20 for four, but it was a big rescue and they had leftovers, so I brought home a couple of little doggie-bags :D ). I also donate all the egg money from sales at work and to friends/neighbours. As there are admin costs to BHWT, I wait till I've got a decent amount before I send it.

There were people in front of me in the queue holding hands out for change, so clearly some donated the minimum, but I'm sure all funds are welcome.

As everyone else has said, they are well worth the wait and be prepared to love them utterly from the start. My thin confused lttle oven-readies soon grew into confident cheeky little individuals with minds of their own :D. The feathers are taking a while, but characters emerge very quickly and it takes them no time at all to wind you round whatever stubs they have for wings. You have been warned

As of the July 1st we have asked for a £1 donation per hen, to cover increasing costs and due to feedback. Anything over and above is very much appreciated.

The majority of us working for the Charity are volunteers so you can be sure all donations are gratefully received and go back to the helping hens and the big picture of education and awareness. Helping farmers and hens.

We all appreciate the forums support :D:D

Buffie x :D

Well at Worcester we normally get an average of £2.50 a hen, however it appears that people who have large numbers such as 25,50,100 only pay £1 per bird. But people who take smaller numbers pay more such as £20. It's up to you how much you give, everything given is appreciated.

The highest amount we took for a single hen was £70.
