clootie
oh yeah, you'd need an eyecatching cover (know any good artists?) and a good title to grab people's attention. I was going to call my poetry book 'poultry in motion' or 'Fowl Language'. So, think of a snappy title. "Henpeck'd.... and other stories" ?? ChirpyChirpyCheepCheep
Hello Clootie and fellow omleteers. . . Can I just add that I think it is a great idea!
clootie
Just an update on the book idea. I emailed the idea weeks ago to the address Christian gave me and I have to say I'm very disappointed that Johannes couldn't find 2 minutes in his busy day or even ask a staff member to reply to me on his behalf. I appreciate he's a busy man and what with his wedding n'all but how long does it take to say "get back to you at a later date" or "thanks but no thanks" ?? Bad show. Not impressed. In the huff now............
buffie
Oh don't be in a huff Honestly they get all kinds of emails and you'll not be being ignored just lost in the inbox I expect. Buffie x
jackiepoppies
sorry have not managed to keep up with everything due to renovation chaos here Don't give up or get in a huff, still a superb idea that I'm sure we can get off the ground. Might be a bit late for this Xmas, but next year it could be the 'Must have' Willing to help in any way I can. Jackiex
clootie
Thanks Poppies but it's not the omleteers I'm huffing about!! It's the lack of any kind of acknowledgement from Mr Omlet that's making me somewhat miffed but it's lovely that you think it's a good idea and would like to get involved!! little chickadee
I think that Johannes is notoriously bad at getting back to people - it's nothing personal! I think people are normally more satisfied if they actually try to speak to him on the phone from memory. Or go through Claret - she seems to be good at bullying him! I think that one of the problems with the cookbook was that the recipes may have originally come from another published cookbook which could have a lot of copyright problems. People can't always remember where they got a favourite recipe from. I don't see that this would be a problem with stories though.
Mrs Frugal
I'd recommend phoning Omlet HQ too. They really are bad at replying to emails - I know as I've sent plenty in myself and not had replies for ages. The boys are really busy and tend to deal with the things they think are the most urgent and as a result, other things do get lost in their inboxes. If you phone, you stand a good chance of speaking to Johannes or one of the other guys. Give it a go . It's worth a try .
Fizzle Knit
Great idea. Real people's experiences with real chickens _ I've found this site a great source of knowledge. On copyright - this is something I know a little about. Usually, copyright belongs to the original creator of the work, whether it's posted on the internet or scrawled onto the back of a business card and stuck up in a telephone box. So, the original posters of the threads here will own copyright to their stories written in their words and will have to give permission for reproduction. HOWEVER, it may be that in the terms and conditions we sign up to when we register here (of course I read them, I just can't remember them for the time being )we agree that we give copyright of anything we post to Omlet, so they'll own copyright. That's certainly the case on other forums I've seen. Either way, I think it would be good to have permission to lift stories verbatim from the writer and Omlet. I'm sure most people would love to see their words in print but would also want some sort of acknowledgment and to say whether they wanted it under their real-life, forum or another name. Mrs Frugal
Why hmmmm, Fred? I think that is only to do with the registration form - ie username, email address, password - not the content of the forum. That is copied and pasted from the first registration page which you have to accept the terms for before you fill out the registration form.
