Lewis
Sorry to annoy you all but I'm annoyed and thought it ask what you think. We used to go camping about 6 times a year, for a couple of years, and then things happened and we haven't been for 2 years. We go body boarding, normally Dad, my brother and me, and mom comes once a year if we go to a "posh campsite" So we know where we like and are looking at Polzeath this year, to go with Me (16), Dad (47 ), Brother (14) + my friend (16) and I just found this: "Teenagers in Polzeath- Summer 2008" I know if I'm a good little boy that I get my £100 back after the week, but it's a bit patronising and tarnishing all teenagers with the same brush. It's kind of put me off a bit now, and its a bit confusing, as I think that it finished on the 19th June, but surely we are all at school doing GCSE's then They contradict themselves by saying: NO SINGLE SEX OR MIXED GROUPS. What do they want? It looks like a good campsite right next to the beach apart from that though. Oh well, thats me done. BeckyBoo
Hmmmm, sounds like they had hellish problems - 2000 drunken teenagers on the beach every night, sounds a bit of a nightmare. It is a bit contradictory though, you can only bring you on teenager but then one teenage friend per pitch permitted? Also sounds like it might have finished anyway. The rest of it - no loud music after 11 etc is fairly standard. Don;t be put off, its basically just an extra deposit, sounds like the minority have spoiled it for the majority - again Have a great time anyway, hope the sun shines for you all Mrs B
Lewis
Yes I noticed the bit about only taking your on teenagers, we were planning on adopting my friend into the family for the couple of days It should be good, and it is only a small place. We have already planned a trip to Tintagel to go to the cornish pastie shop there. Its worth the drive as the pasties are really good. I read your post about camping and a few others, I'm looking forward to it and we seem to have everything from a few years ago, now to go into the garage and get it all out
Egluntyne
It seems odd to limit it it to just those particular weeks and not the whole season. Many B&B's , hotels etc impose similar good behaviour bonds as they have had huge problems, in Newquay especially.
Lesley
I personally think a Good Behaviour Bond should apply to any group with children! - it seems a bit discriminatory against teenagers and I'm sure some children, whatever their age, would be able to spoil others peace and quiet. It does say you can take one friend so you should be OK without your father having to adopt a son I'm sure you'll have a great time....and will be able to claim your bond back
Tina C
I think the good behaviour bond should apply to all pitches full stop. It was parents of children that kept us awake last week - especially the one shouting 'Ella get to sleep' every five minutes (this was after midnight). Until someone shouted 'Why don't you just shut up and let everyone else sleep...' I think the bond thing is a response in particular to the post A-level/GCSE parties that go on every year. Most sites say no groups/single sex groups for a similar reason. I wonder if this will also apply when I do my big camp out for my 50th bithday???? surferdog
We go to Polzeath every year but didn't this year as we were going to Cornwall in July. Yes they have these problems every year in July - it's because of its proximity to Rock and the fact that Public schools break up at the end of June. Kids as young as 13 being get dropped off at the beach in the evening - getting out of 4x4s with bottles of booze. The local inn can't let rooms in July as the guests get woken up by drunken shennigans all night. Hence the curfews and restrictions......and it's been going on for years....I guess they've just had enough http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2005/jul/02/britishidentity.ukcrime http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/uk/article2100313.ece http://www.cornwall24.co.uk/index.php?module=pnForum&func=viewtopic&topic=3693&start=0 On the plus side if your staying at the campsite in the village it's lovely - just across the road from the beach. Olly
That does seem a bit harsh ... but on the other hand I can see why they don't want hordes of unaccompanied teenagers. I usually go camping with a group of adults (all over 40) and a few children. We never sit up late at night, singing, playing guitar, playing games and drinking or anything like that. Yes, we have been shouted at occasionally but since we don't have barking dogs, don't rev our engines really loudly at night and shine car headlights at people's tents, and don't scream at the kids, I reckon we're not the worst offenders - and we don't go on into the early hours of the next day like some do. Last time we were having an impromptu singing session, people came over and asked to join us! And by the way, the children in our group were all in bed and sleeping soundly through all this. I do think that if you go to a busy campsite in peak season, it's unrealistic to expect that it will be very quiet - we've been shouted at at 10.00 pm before now, which is a bit daft. I hope you have a good time, and get your bond back!
Lewis
I'm packing at the moment Not one to leave it to the last minute. We can't get in at the site so now we are going to Little Bodieve, in Wadebridge. We will have to drive to Polzeath but it's not that far, its normaly parking the car which is the problem! The car is loaded and ready to go at 7.30 in the morning, we are stopping off at Adsa 1/2 way there for breakfast and to get food etc. Should be good fun, and this time we remembered to take crab lines with us, not buy them while we are there Of course I will put them back! (the crabs that is, not the lines in the garage )

Lewis
I'm hooooome! It was a really good trip, we went to Polzeath beach, Padstow, Tintagel, St Ives, St Austell and had a good time. The site we went to was quite good all clean and friendly staff, the eventing entertainment was ok, but we only went once. "Pets corner" lacked them they had 8 guinea pigs, a rabbit and a big empty aviary . I am now the adoptee father of Sebastian the lobster from the National Lobster Hatchery in Padstow. Rick Steins chip shop do the best chips in the world So all in all it was a really good trip. (Although mom did forget to feed the fish for 3 days , theyr'e fine though )

Ain't Nobody Here
Glad it went well . Those place names take me back to when I was 19 and working in the St Moritz Hotel in Trebetherick near Rock .
Lewis
I love the idea of adopting a lobster It's good £1.50 for one, or £5 for 4 lobsters for friends/family, of course I had to get 4: Sebastian - Mine Norman - Dads Fluffy - Brothers Caroline - Stuarts All money goes directly to the charity, and you can check on the website when they say (for me November) and it says your name, when and where your lobster was released. The lady in the shop was really helpful and kind, and she she seemed to know what she was talking about.
