surferdog
We've had our girls nearly 5 months now and I've been adding Vermex to their feed religously for three days every month. There's no sign of any problems (keeping everything crossed ) but having read on here that Vermex is not very effective I'm wondering if I should worm them with something stronger? I have some fluvenet already but I think that has an egg withdrawal period. Does anybody know how long for? And what do you do with the eggs? (Don't think I could bear to just throw them away....) Mrs Frugal
Flubenvet doesn't have an egg withdrawal period so no need to throw any away whilst treating your hens with it. I use it every 6 months to keep my hens clear of worms as it's far more effective than Verm-X.
surferdog
Thanks very much Kate! I'd put off using it as couldn't bear the thought of wasting all those eggs when the girls are fine.
Mrs Frugal
I'm just the same! I hate having to throw them away after the girls have worked so hard to make them - it's like chucking out your birthday prezzies, isn't it .
Purplemaniacs
I bought Vermex when we got the hens but it is unopened in the cupboard, having read views of it's effectiveness on the forum I have used Flubenvet, we continued to eat the eggs but did not let my daughter who is pregnant have any of them, also didn't give to friends for a week after Flubenvet was completed. I did mine in May and was wondering when I would need to do them again.
Egluntyne
Vermex isn't much cop in my experience. I give my girls Flubenvet every 4 months or so routinely, and haven't seen any signs of worms since.
Sandychick
Vermex isn't much cop in my experience. I've been using Vermex.........now giving them flubenvet because they have worms!
Ain't Nobody Here
I use Flubenvet every 3 months. No worms yet . I think the only withdrawal requirement is if you have to double-dose them to get rid of gapeworm? Have I got that right?
