Omlet netting

Recommended Posts

Hello!

I think our netting is about one metre high, and yes some of the girls flap over it  but the biggest offender flaps back in again

It can sag between posts, but you would need to make sure they are taught or held by guy ropes (I don't do this I'm afraid  ) but it keeps nearly all the girls where they are supposed to be, or in my case out of the veg patch.

It defintely does the job.

I do get a few escapees but only because I have the netting over uneven ground and one section is at the bottom of a bank so it is easy for them to fly over. A couple of mine also have worked out how to sneak underneath if there are any gaps!

It is however a fantastic product and an almost essential buy for me...my girls are like a swarm of locusts destroying anything green within minutes! The netting is so easy to move about and is very u"Ooops, word censored!"trusive. The poles and netting seem to be very robust. I just wish I'd got a longer section as have got a big chicken area and end up moving it about quite a bit.

I think it is about a metre high as well...

You have to be careful to secure the bottom down (we do it with rocks but tent pegs or something would be a good way as well) and make sure the top is taught, and that there is nothing close by that they can get onto that is high up.

Other than that it is great.

hi

i dont have omlet netting but i did buy some netting from homebase £9.99 i think it was called fruit netting it was actually 2m high but i just left it folded over, i think it was 12m long, anyway i wanted to experiment to see if i could keep them off the patio as it was a minefield of poo.

i keep it up using bamboo canes 10 for £1.15

i have to say it has been a wonderful success they havent jumped over

the patio is clean and the netting is still standing.

i dont know if that is of any use but it is a cheap solution and worked for me. :)

Omlet netting great - it doesn;t have to 'sag' between poles - just put pole in at a slight angle to prevent this. It is very strong as it has wire in with the plastic. Poles have a metal spike, which makes it really easy to move about.

thanks to all for your help.

love your idea Sarah - cheaper option definitely appreciated (the saving could keep me in petrol for a month !!) Might try to combine the homebase netting with some electric fence poles - easier to move?

thanks to all

Helen

Which is pretty much what I've done (I used a different netting though). See this post for more details, there's a picure down at the bottom of the thread, my girls still haven't even attempted to jump it!:-
