Empty Plot

Recommended Posts

I have just lifted some potatoes which I didn't actually plant - they were left overs from a couple of years ago!

There are enough for a couple of dinners and they have left the plot beautifully ready for something else.

I am starting out, have a couple of different areas with carrots, broccoli etc already planted - but - what do you think I should put in this empty plot today? It is around 6'x6'.

I have radishes ready to plant out and they could go there with some more carrots but I am open to suggestions - am also veering towards fruit rather than vegetables if you could suggest something in that direction?

Waddya think?

(I have just realised I have the chooks free-ranging and haven't shut the other plot off. . . . . . . opppps .. . )

Thanks for the replies.

Yesterday I went to a garden centre and bought some fruit trees: red gooseberry, blueberry, thornless blackberry and cranberry.

I WAS going to put them in this empty plot but am now uncertain as to whether they should be tied up against a fence or if they are just bushes . . .

They haven't been planted out yet until I work this out. .

plant them into large pots filled with ericracious compost?

Actually, chickenanne, THAT is a very good idea! I don't really want this plant taking over as ground cover in a bed but I could do well putting it in a pot!

Just need to look into ericracious compost now - don't have any of that yet.

Thanks :D
