Cinnamon
Hi, I went on to Vodaphone Broadband a month or so ago, with no problems. In fact its brilliant! However, once or twice a week I can no longer send emails via Outlook I can recieve them, but cannot send them & have to do a restore to a point on the computer when I could send them. Now,I think it could be an AVG update which keeps kicking in & making this happen, although I am not 100% on this. Its really odd as the server doesn't change or anything,I just can't send any emails......... Anyone else had this problem or know what I can try? Fred? Geoid
AVG or Windows Firewall could be stopping them, try turning them off to see which one is causing the problem.
Guest
I had a compatability problem with AVG and Vista, which rendered my computer totally useless. AVG were absolutely brilliant at sorting it out. If you think it might be the cause, I would contact them using their reporting system. You can allow them to look at yur computer and then they can tell you what's happening and how to fix it. If it is AVG . . .
Cinnamon
I am actually looking into Googlemail as an alternative to Outlook instead. Fred,I know you are a fan of GMail, is there any way I can import messages from my Outlook folders to Gmail do you know?
Guest
I turned the AVG updates off already as when they were running I couldn't type properly. Now I just leave the lappy one once a week and let them run overnight. As for Gmail - I have it and I hate it. The interface is horrid - the idea of everything sitting in the inbox or being "archived" just seems odd. I prefer a viewing pane which I can't see the option for and the JUNK MAIL is HORRENDOUS! Considering I don't even use the addres - how on earth do I get all those adverts for viagra and emails written in chinese. Gmail was what made me realise how good Hotmail really is. Although TBH if you use Outlook now I would stick with it - its a very powerful tool Outlook and has a lot of nice features you will miss if you let them go. Ain't Nobody Here
I've been trying out Windows Live Mail (mainly for my laptop as Eprompter, which I used before, wasn't showing the titles for Omlet notifications & also I couldn't send emails). I still use Outlook on the PC but quite like WLM so far (& you get a viewing pane!)
The Dogmother
I use all of the above (except for g mail) and don't have any problems, although a friend has had problems with g mail. Sorry not to be any help, but I haven't had the same problem as you're getting. The only think I can think of is that you may be exceeding a download allowance on your broadband if you have one. I use my Hotmail/windows live email account anywhere, and also use Outlook 2003 on my home PC and at work (love those features). My home PC has Norton antivirus and internet protection, the lappy has AVG free version and work machine has belt and braces McAfee with message labs and a big firewall thrown in for good measure.
