Guest
After a wait our new greenhouse was delivered and errected last week. It looks brilliant - the new site is by Mums bathroom next to the herb garden - it is up against a fence one side but the roof runs from East to West so it gets full sun all day. The staging goes all round at waist height and eye level but you can take sections out if you want to grow in there. Its on a concrete base - we hate dirt ones - which cats love! We are shortly blocking off this end of the garden from the Chooks so in full sun we can leave the door open. The roof has automatic openers. There are 2 side windows and 2 vents in the lower panels - I didn't want full glass as we share the garden with a small boy, crashing into glass can be a lot more dangerous than crashing into wood! Now here come the pictures so DON'T LOOK CHRISTIAN!

Guest
Thanks. We'll use it mainly for seeds, cuttings and overwintering rather than actually growing things in it. I might grow some cucumbers in it next summer. We went for a nice one as we wanted it to last and be a nice feature in our garden. The existing greenhouse was at the bottom of our garden (1/4 of an acre away) and is under a HUGE tree (taller than the high barn nextdoor). This one was warped and not fully weather proof. It also had a dirt floor which meant if we left the door open in summer the cats just used it as a toilet. Also the geography was wrong. It was up against a fence to the west and the roof ran North to South - with the tree being on the North side (as well as over half the roof!) Now that one is part of the chicken run - just a couple of panes were removed at the back. The girls like to dusbathe in there and although it's not fully weatherproof it does stay mostly dry in there. They don't bother going in there when it's hot but I think they may like it more in the winter when it gives them protection from the elements. AJuff
OOOOhhhh that looks lovely! It will look fabulous with things growing in it. I didn't think to take and post a picture on here of my new greenhouse. I think I'd have to tidy it up first!!
Jen&Rog
What a beauty, I'm green with envy! My greenhouse is a rickety affair that has probably been there about 50 years...
