As we only have Maud who is laying now and as the BHWT are oversubscribed, we decided to get a cple of POL girlies.

 

Went to Garden Poultry in Frodsham with 2 Red Rockets in mind, but after chatting with John (the owner), we somehow ended up with a Blue Comet (Eleanor Rigby) and a Sussex Rock (Lucy in the sky with diamonds)

Lucy already seems to be a bit of a madam (Lynda, I'm hoping you're not a prophet John said she should be okay with our girls, fingers x'd ) and Eleanor is a sweetie but it's early days obviously. Maud was a marauder when she first arrived and now she's my cuddle chicken

Hi Snowy, John reckons very soon, he showed us how to check the pelvic bone to see if they're near to laying and he thinks about 10 days or so

Poet your new girls are beautiful. I love the names. Looking at the photos you posted it looks like you should be getting eggs anyday now. This photo look like there is a bit of squatting going on.

we let them free range together for a bit today and all went well for about 10 minutes until the old girls chased the new ones into bushes

 

we put the older girls back in their run to give the new girls a bit more of a chance to get their confidence up.

Spotted your new chookies on Facebook!! They are lovley. I love the colours. Glad you got on well with the Garden Poultry man. Hope you found it ok. We got very lost when we went. Have fun with your new girls.
