Holidays....fear of flying...Christian how do you do it?

Recommended Posts

I flew when we went on Honeymoon, and vowed to never do it again!

We did a short flight from Glasgow to Gatwick, which resulted in an emergency visit to the doctor at 11 at night because of horrific earache that didn;t ease when we landed. Then the next day we flew to Mexico, in a weeny wee plane. Halfway over the Atlantic the cabin filled with smoke, which turned out to be because of spilt gravy in the cooker, food heating thingy they have (you can see I know the technical terms.....), followed by another visit to the doctors in Cancun with my ear again.

On the way home, the engines conked out on the runway as we were shuttling towards takeoff.......:shock::shock::shock:

Never, EVER again. Not even if I was guaranteed Christian would be on the flight.

Oh my goodness  . I always get earache and go deaf for a few days either end of the journey. I use the ear plug thingies as well but nothing seems to work.

We were talking yesterday on the ferry back from France, which I have to say was going up and crashing down, waves were splashing on the window and even the waiters were having trouble walking, that we might do a drive through Europe to Rome - sounds like a good idea to me now :D

But you would never never get me on anything on water I dived out of a dinghy once into the sea fully clothed because I thought a big wave would capsize us and I would be trapped underneath  came up to find OH killing himself  sitting happily in the dinghy

Oh dear! I have to admit that the ferry was really old and rusting and made the most awful noise each time a wave crashed on it. We were in the restaurant at the front of the ship and quite high up. I really didn't think waves would reach that high

YS kept commenting on the water that was coming through the window - gulp. I really shouldn't have had 3 glasses of wine though as it didn't help (they were small glasses). :D

I've only done a small flight to Italy and then I downed the drugs to get me through it.

Mind you our holidays are always eventful. On the way home from this one we had to get a coach transfer. I told the kids to get on the coach and to save mum and dad a seat whilst we both went to put the cases in the hold.

After doing this we tried to get on the coach and the stroppy rep blocked my way and told me I wasn't getting on as they were over booked. I explained that my children were already on the coach, she wasn't having any of it and refused me and hubby entry.

Well, no-one is going to separate me from my kids. I'm only little, 5' 2" weighing 8.5 stone and I turned into rambo getting on that coach. I don't think the rep knew what hit her when I barged through.

And no we haven't been on holiday since - too much hassle!!!
