Ardene5
Hi Everyone Well here in Preesall near Blackpool it has been overcast with a wind today. I see from various comments that now others are thinking we could be in for a cold snap at the weekend. Well the question I asked on page 1 of 21 is....... is winter coming early????????? Think we might have an answer by the weekend of *** 3 letters starts with a Y , second letter is the 5 letter of the alphabet and the other is well you guess. Have fun what ever you do this weekend if it snow. Ardene5
Hi Everyone There seems to be a temperature change here this morning as it is colder and also very windy,( Preesall near Blackpool). Snow is forecast for Scotland and later on the North East side of England so in these winds I expect some places to be cut off by snow drifts. Therefore I hold that everyone has stock of hen food and some where to keep them safe from the wind chill factor. Take care Had a good weekend Best regards Ian Ian & Valerie William & Harry Missy & Millie dogs 9 Lovely Hens Henian Castle with inside it

The Dogmother
I moved a whole load of logs up nearer the house last weekend, so I will bring some in ready to light the stove when I get home this evening.
Ardene5
Hi Everyone Here in Preesall near Blackpool last night we had our first sleet shower. Might not sound much because other parts of the UK have had snow . But in this neck of the woods we very rarely get snow or sleet because we are 400 yards from the sea. We are protected by have the The Lakes to the north and The Pennines to the east so we do not usually get this type of bad weather. How is it with the rest of the UK? Redwing
Its a beautiful morning here in Astcote (not near Blackpool) the sun is shining already and its going to be a lovely day but its VERY cold! I did the morning dash to the Eglu in the dark with a jumper over my nighty chickens were not impressed by my consideration and have only just deigned to show their faces (an hour later)
The Dogmother
We're not far from Redwing and it was blisteringly cold here today - my hen party was quite painful in the cold wind, but all the people attending were in good humour. At least it was dry.
Ardene5
Hi Everyone, Here in Preesall near Blackpool we have woken up to very heavy rain. This is not like the forecast we saw on the internet, which said we could have a light dusting of snow for our area of the UK. But the outside temperature must have gone up because we have not snow just very heavy rain! This will please my better half, as the family of going to church this morning to hand in our shoe box of goodies to help some child in an other poorer country for Christmas. She did not fancy going in sleet or snow because her mum who is nearly 80 has just recovered from a fall where she broke her hip, she has had it repaired with screws and a metal plate and is up and walking now. What is the weather like in the other parts of the UK? Egluntyne
In Sheffield, which is 95 miles from Blackpool we have woken up to biting cold, iced up windscreens and a Siberian wind.

The Dogmother
After a brutally ciold evening, we woke up this am to a light dusting of snow and driving sleet. It's still sleeting now, and the pup wasn't at all keen on going for her walk this morning, so it was just a quick turn around the park.. she's wearing her knitted jumper now to keep her warm. clootie
Well, I woke up this morning to look out of the window only to see heavy snow and 3 horses and a donkey running around my garden. Unusual because we don't own 3 horses and a donkey !! So, there I was in my jim jams and wellies with DD, who, thought they were a late birthday present, trying to round them up and keep them safe until we could find the owners or involve the police. Chased them through the woods, round the field where they made a dash for the main road. Managed to entice the boss of the group (not the donkey but a rather beautiful, very large dark brown mare) with some horse biccies. The rest duly followed thank goodness. Police called - 2 1/2 hours later frantic owners traced - all well. I've now got the feeling back in my hands and will have cake and tea. (any excuse) !! What a start to the day !! If I'm honest, I loved every minute !!
Ain't Nobody Here
Wow . How exciting . Well done for keeping them safe & finding their owners! (If there were 3 horses and a donkey in my garden, they wouldn't have room to turn round ).
Egluntyne
Wow! What a story! Any pics?
clootie
Actually yes, my DH recorded it for posterity. We managed to keep them in an area blocking all exits to other parts of the garden. Not ideal as two of them were a little feisty and one was kicking another quite violently. All's well that ends well though and they are now safe and warm back in their stables. I still can't get warm - chilled to the bone!! Trying to reduce photos to post!!
