Sandychick
My 3 chickens have been consistantly laying eggs between 65-75g. But in the last two weeks they have all been progressively getting smaller and all three of them layed 57g eggs today. I have three thoughts about what could be the cause. 1) I changed their brand of pellets recently - mixed the two initially and they are now just on the new ones. This coincides with the smaller eggs. 2) Less daylight hours so they would be eating less pellets. 3) Maybe I should reach for the Flubenvet again? They were only wormed two months ago though. Any thoughts / suggestions would be great. It's not just the eggs that are bothering me, it's more that I worry there could be something wrong with them. Adams Egg
Sounds lie the brand, have a look to see if the ingredients are the same. What about the manufacture date, you may have a stale batch or someone at the mill has mixed up growers with layers pellets. Shouldn't harm to worm as a precaution. I haven't noticed any reduction in size, only that they are laying much earlier
chooklady
I haven't got a clue as I am a complete novice but our eggs are getting bigger and I have just changed to mash from pellets or maybe it's that the birds are maturing probably the latter!
