Hen Huggers R Us
Yes it happened in the worst possible way. We decided to go for a short afternoon drive, to get our new puppy Jasmine used to the car. On our return there they were, Saffron sat in the plant pot (a large plant pot that contains an olive tree which is floor standing) in the conservatory looking very content with herself, Bluebelle settled nicely beside her. Problem was they had emptied the contents out before they got settled . To say the conservatory looked like a land mine had just exploded was an understatement ,soil everywhere and poo's scattered just for decoration. But who left the door open ?? Sherlock Holmes will never solve that one , Mr "Ooops, word censored!"ody is the prime suspect though, Son and Daughter know nothing, amazing how the crafty fellow (Mr "Ooops, word censored!"ody) sneaks in and out undetected. It took over an hour to clean up the mess, the fan heater seemed to take the brunt of it, it was in the vents all over it, hard to determine the culprit who had strode all over the sofa, their footprints look all the same. Yes we can all laugh now but you can guess the reaction at the time . Word of warning guard your castle well you never know when a Henvasion is imminent. Omletina Kyckling
My girls dash into the conservatory if anybody leaves the door open. When hubby is here from Sweden, he often wanders in and out and leaves the door open and I go in to find 3 or 4 chickens tearing the cherry tomatoes off the plants in there, not believing their luck!! Chook n Boo Mum
I had a high-speed henvasion experience the other day; I was sitting here minding my own business (probably on this very forum actually !!) when suddenly I became aware of a flurry of feathers & shrieks heading my way at speed, through the back door. By the time I turned round & got up the two chooks in question (Bluebell & Buttercup) has regained their rather haughty composure & were walking back towards the door muttering & mumbling to each other. It would appear my chocolate Poppy had "bounced" just outside the back porch where the chooks were resting & scared the life out of them! Normally she's the placid teddy bear, so is ignored by the chooks as a rule. Fortunately Poppy & Daisy, who had appeared to find out what all the fuss was about, responded appropriately to the "OUT!" command rather than chasing B&B further into the house. Peace descended on the madhouse again!! Sha x
