4m x 3m Omlet pen, cube, new auto door still boxed and coop light

We recently got a green eglu with 2 chickens (29/9/08) and they have been a joy so far with the first egg arriving on Sunday (tasiest egg we've ever had!) After the first couple of days, both seemed to find the green eglu door very appealing and peck at it on and off throughout the day.

 

Is this something to worry about? Should I provide something else for them to peck at, if so what would be best?

Don't have any mad eglu pecking chooks here but I do have a .

 

Perhaps they are eating little bugs or flies that you can't see. Lots of little fruit flies around at the moment...

Somebody recently mentioned that their new hens constantly pecked their blue door.

My newbies were pecking their door. On closer inspection there were tiny flies on it!

mine peck at the eglu too...but there are tiny bugs/flies on it...and also our plastic (uPVC) french doors for the same reason...

 

I love it when they peck at the raindrops on the eglu run wire....thats very funny.

ours peck both eglu doors (green and blue) it's definitely the flies and little bugs they're going for - very tasty apparently...

My two peck the door, the french windows, the rain drops on the run wire and....

The first time I changed the newspaper, Liberty gave me a dirty look, then kept pecking at it till she managed to grab it, drag it out and chuck it at the other end of the run She doesn't seem to bother any more though.
