Christian
Sorry to hear that Half dozen. She will be fine in a box somewhere dark and quiet overnight. Make sure she has food and water (do you have any rescue remedy to add to her water - good for shock)? If she is still bleeding, you can get vet wound powder to cover the area and promote healing or try Purple spray from a horse shop. It covers the wound and stops the others attacking it. I would wait until it has healed first though. Are you able to separate the run in two? You really want to make sure that the others can see her, but not get at her. It will make the reintroductions easier. Hope she is better soon
half dozen
A friend has suggested spraying area with tea tree oil because they dont like the smell and it would act as a barrier. Could I do this and put her back in with the others when they are sleepy or do I keep her separate x
Egluntyne
If she is bleeding or if the wound is sizeable I wouldn't put her back just yet. If it is a small wound, and the bleeding has stopped, ie it has scabbed over, I would use the purple spray and reintroduce her, under supervision, or you could separate a bit of the run and have hr in sight of them, but safe from their beaks. The Dogmother
Apart from Christian and Egluntine's excellent advice, watch her carefully for shock; a couple of weeks ago a friend had the same thing happen and the hen shocked badly. Make sure that she drinks and keep her warm. Do let us know how she gets on, won't you?
half dozen
thanks for all the advice. Willow has no real wounds it just seemed to be bleeding from the root of the feathers. She is quite bare in that area but no obvious blood. She has had the full run of the utilily room today and is now fast asleep in the cat basket I have got some purple spray today,so when get home tomorrow will spray her and put tea tree on her and re introduce her whilst I am there to watch If they peck her again I will have to buy some temporary dog cage or something for her
