Clur
After nagging for what feels like an eternity, DH has finally dug out the bread machine for me from the depths of the garage where it was boxed up when we moved. I've gone to make some wholemeal bread and can't remember what order the ingredients go in --- all my cookbooks tell me to put everything in the order the bread machine instructions recommend, but we can't find the instructions Has anyone got any recipes for making a basic loaf in a bread machine, with the full idiot-prood instructions please? Guest
10.5 fl oz water 1lb flour 1tbsp oil 0.5 tsp salt 1 tbsp milk powder 1tsp yeast (I think my original bread book also said a tsp of sugar, but I don't like it and don't use it) Put the liquid in the machine first, then the flour with the other dried ingredients in each corner, with the yeast in the middle above the paddle. This is medium loaf size. I make it with white flour or half and half just because it can be very heavy otherwise...
Omletina Kyckling
The only diffrence is that if you have a Panasonic the water goes in last!
Clur
Thanks, it's a Kenwood Bread is in doing now, so hopefully it'll taste ok!
Mrs Webmuppet
Mine has the liquids going in first with the sugar and salt, then the flour and finally the yeast on top.
..lay a little egg for me
I get the impression that the main thing is to keep the water/liquid away from the yeast so it doesn't start working until it has warmed up otherwise the timings are all to pot. The Panasonic seems to be the only one that has the yeast going in first as far as I know.
Tessa the Duchess
In my old LG the water went in first, yeast last. My new Panasonic is the other way round. I suspect that as long as the water is as far away from the yeast as possible, it doesn't really matter that much. You might be able to find the instructions for your Kenwood online somewhere, hope your bread turns out ok. Tessa

Tessa If you look at this website http://www.mrbreadmaker.co.uk/index.html there are lots of different breadmaker reviews etc. on it, if you click on the model you're interested in, and scan down the page, many of them have downloadable manuals, so even if your exact model isn't there, the Kenwood ones will probably be pretty much the same (Prima ones don't seem to vary that much) so it may be a start. Clur
Fab, thanks will do that as the bread's been tasting nice but not rising very well.
