Introductions: A miracle?

Recommended Posts

I just wanted to share a possible miracle tip with others. We had 2 girls (one rescue, one bantam) and wanted to have a couple more. Previously, we've done that thing of separating them and giving each their own space then rotating them so no-one has 'territory'. Our breeder suggested that we put them to bed together once it was really dark and said that, in the morning, they'd think they'd always been together.

We were sceptical but did it. No fuss overnight and then this morning there's been a bit of chest-pushing and chasing but nothing like we've seen before. All are eating from the same feeder, wandering about, kicking and scratching (the earth, not each other)... is this a one-off or have we found the miracle answer?

you have miracle birds !!!!!! long may it continue...

I put our new third in with the others, and had to take her out, a couple of hours later......and even then they had been guarded by small child with water spray to discourage fighting :-D

and then began our long process..

I managed this once when I introduced masie PP 3 yrs (adopted top chook) to my 4 girls who were young and had just started to lay and tbh I was a newbie I now realise being a bit wiser that I was very very lucky. Since then I have followed the slow but sure approach and have had no problems. Maise remains top chook as far as she is concerned; all food/treets are hers, best sunbathing spot is hers, you name it its hers she is not discriminatory in the slightest they all get she same peck on the head if they dare to get there first  But we adore her and although we shouldnt have a favourite we cant help ourselves she is such a gorgeous but bossy old lady :lol:
