sarah-w
I knew I should have stayed in bed this morning Been shopping to buy new boots, I wore my old boots to town under my jeans (they are knee high), tried 1 new boot on in the shop, liked them, bought them, was 100yards down the road when I first noticed the funny stares. I'd only gone and put my old boot back on OVER my jeans, 1 under 1 over Not a good look but I did get a bargain, new boots for £8.

Snowy
Sorry it's been done already - by the rich and famous! I was at a craft fair on Saturday and Clarissa Dixon Wright was there signing her books. Proudly sporting grey plimsolls and long bottle green socks, one with the trouser leg tucked in and the other with the trouser leg over the top So I wouldn't worry (unless you aren't keen on the CDW look! )

Valkyrie
Years ago went to the works Christmas party - found out I was wearing one white shoe with a pattern and one plain. I was so embarrassed that I had to go home to change (they were the same height, so I didn't notice). OH said I could drive home and gave me the car keys, but after I gave him the Paddington Bear stare, he very quickly decided to drive me instead! Nowadays it is nice to be different! alih
My poor 12-year-old daughter HAD to go to school in odd school shoes this morning as she announced at 8am (normally her leaving time) that she couldn't find one of her school shoes. She had left it at her friend's house it later transpired but this was the second loss of a shoe in 6 weeks and I had no other suitable shoes so she wore the one she didn;t lose 6 weeks ago and the one she didn't lose today. And she had to walk on her own as her friends had gone without her. I felt sorry for her but was cross too as every night I ask them all "are you ready for school tomorrow" and EVERY day without fail someone is dashing about at the last minute. But I figured the mortification of having to wear odd shoes would stick in her mind and she would a. find the missing shoe pronto and b. make sure she never lost it again....fingers crossed! sarah-w
Did she have 1 left/1 right or did you send her in 2 left feet?
alih
Thankfully she had one of each!!!! she said "Ooops, word censored!"ody laughed at her for having odd shoes as they didn't notice!
jlo
I once turned up at work with a blue shoe and a black shoe. My only mitigation was that it had been dark when I had got dressed. At the time, I got up much earlier than OH to go swimming and tried to get dressed without putting the lights on! Fortunately, I sit behind a desk in court for much of the day so not too many people noticed!
Minnie the Moocher
Sarah, I'm sure they weren't staring at you. They were wondering where you'd left your bike.
Olly
If one does the 'chicken run' up the garden last thing before leaving for work, to check on the ladies, one sometimes tucks one's trousers into one's ankle-boots so they don't get wet and muddy. It would be really embarrassing if one forgot to untuck them, and set off up the (busy) road to the station wearing a sort of Russian Cossack outfit, wouldn't it ... Not that this has ever happened to me, you understand!
Lesley
......and it's never happened to me at the school assembly either
jill the potter
I once, many years ago, arrived at the bus stop to go to work - which was a five minute walk from my house - wearing a pair of fluffy slippers!!!
