I have no idea where any of them originated although she was from Monmouthshire.

I always say "get a wriggle on" much to OH's amusement! Also "c'mon shake a leg"!

It's not a saying as such but over here rats are only ever referred to as 'long tails'

 

A rather naughty one from my great Gran, when we kept pestering her what was for dinner she would reply with 'pig's poo and onions' She was a lovely little white haired old lady too!

 

I was told that if I didn't work hard at school I'd end up 'Working behind the cheese counter in Woolies' But they didn't sell cheese when I was young...maybe they did when my mum was young?
