chickencam
Today was Christmas light switch on day here and the opening of our temporary icerink in a marquee in the park. We timed it for when Santa was turning on the lights and the icerink was quite quiet. Our children had a great time and I haven't seen so many smiling faces in one place for many a while it was quite heart warming just like in the films. There will be some sore botties tomorrow though

Seagazer
We've been going skating at Canary Wharf for the last couple of years. My SIL has paid for it instead of buying presents for the neices and nephews. There are usually about 15 of us. Last year I got talked into trying it. I've never skated before and I was frankly terrified. I managed to go round about one and a half times before I landed on my bottom and then that was it - I was off After that we go off to one of our houses for a lovely dinner My boys hadn't done it before the first time but they took to it like naturals and I love watching them and their Dad flying round the rink. Its great fun although I do prefer watching
theherd123
I adore ice skating even though im not much good at it Unfortunately the temporary ice rink which is usually based in Centenary Square isnt being set up this year. There is an ice rink round the corner from me but i hardly find time to go. The OH & I went to NYC a few years ago and i skated in Central Park - it was a dream come true and even though i was 30 at the time i felt like a child. PapaJuliet
We don't go ice skating but we go to our local ice rink (fairly) regularly to watch the ice hockey. It's a good evening out with a fun family atmosphere (none of this aggro like that football stuff ) This weekend our local team is in Italy for the local championships. If they win this evening's game (starting in half an hour) they are through to the finals in France in January. That's a good excuse to break the camper van out of winter storage!!! So COME ON YOU BLAZE!!! PJ
