Angels4
I named mine before they arrived but waited until they were here and their personalities were established before I attached a name to them.

Scramble
I dlaready decided what I wanted to call them and when they arrived they just seemed to step right into their names! That or if i'd got to know they're personalities they would be named Greedy and Speedy greedy being yolko(she eats a lot of porridge even though she's the smaller one ) and speedy being chickpea( runs a mile when you try to wash her feet.) Good Luck with the names there's some ideas on the omlet wiki thing ♥Here♥ x
mictogirl
My nickname at work is now Barbara Good they won't be laughing quite so much when I start bringing fresh eggs in for them! As for names, my poor girls still don't have them! Apart from Tiny the bantam, I can't tell the others apart yet, I'm such a bad chicken mummy
Hen Watch
I had a list of about 30 names drawn up by my children, some really good ones and some shamefacedy nicked from ones seen on this forum. So I thought I had 4 good front runners but when the chooks arrived my children did a U turn and named them instantly so I have a totally unique "Henny" bet there's not many of them around

Daphne
Our 1st hens were a leaving present from work from OH's work. Daphne is named after a high flying scary woman who for some reason quite liked OH. And our Daph is definitely TOP HEN but she's also very sensible and very wonderful. The rest just come with seeing them. Hence the really rather original Buffy for something buff coloured, Goldie for a gold laced bird, and Snowy for something with a lot of white on it, amongst others. Note, however, Goldie has to be spelt with an 'ie'; OH and I are agreed on this.....oh dear.....how many other people talk about the spelling of a hen's name
Chickvic
We'd decided on one pepperpot and 2 gingernut rangers, we spent ages trying to think of names when DH came up with Pearl for our pepperpot (as in the Black Pearl) so my DD decided on Opal (her birth stone) and DS chose Ruby because he liked the song by the Kaiser Chiefs. Opal seems to have taken on my DD's personality ie. being bossy and into everything!
Egluntyne
My son...not normally noted for his creative thoughts, named most of my girls, with the exception of the ex-batts who were named by my daughter. He also christened the walk in run the "Henpire State Building" which I thought was rather clever.
dancing cloud
I asked my brother's children to pick names, so three (Chance, Joy, Dandelion) were already chosen. On the way to collection, I decided to call "my" hen Hope but, as 4 ex-batts became 6 on the day, I had to think up two more names in the car on the way home - Daisy and Clover because there's lots of them in my lawn as well as Dandelions. Having picked the names, the next challenge was to allocate them to individual hens "So who looks like a little Daisy-hen then?"
KAZAROO
Mel and Sue were second hand- Having previously been henny and penny! We thought they looked like Mel and Sue off the telly! Betty is often Bets.... Wilma looks like Wilma Rubble.... Lacey because she looks like she has lacey feathers Jaffa-Adam named after a jaffa cake as she is flecked with orange. Fi was called Dyliss as one of the four dinner ladies( Dyliss; Doloros; Delphine and Delilah) but was renamed Fi as in Pheonix as she survived the fox. Sue is often Susie-Que... Think I might add a few more at the end of the month.... Maybe some more light sussex or my hubbys beloved POLS....
pistachio
We got 6 chickens and there's 5 of us so everyone in the family got to choose 1 chicken for their own and name it themselves and I got 2 My youngest son chose Heather Feather because it was a nice sounding rhyme he thought up. My daughter chose Sue which is my mum's name - not sure why - probably because she's like the grandmum in the group (we all took our time to choose names). My eldest son chose the biggest boldest hen and called her Bouddica?Boudiccea (we don't argue about how to spell this warrior name). my hausband chose the name Raven probably because she's a hen and it's a bit silly and she's the blackest and he and the kids like the TV programme Raven. Mine are called Penelope which seemed appropriate from myth and from penelope Pitstop and my other one is called Antigone - a feisty woman of principle from Greek Myth. So the names don't match at all - but that's kinda nice

mostin
My first two girls cam pre-named as they were adopted. And they had been named after the previous owners grandma's, Priscilla and Lillian. When my two new girls came along I thought I would see what would suit them. Dolly was blonde and kept puffing her chest out and shaking her head, so she was instantly named Dolly after Dolly Parton. Her partner in crime who arrived at the same time was very vocal so we carrie on with the same theme of busty singers and she was named Shirley, after Shirley Bassey.
