molasses

That's black treacle, not golden syrup. Sometimes GS is known as treacle (think treacle tart  ).

Poet, why are you doing this to me (and the others of course!! )....yet another recipe for yummy stuff. I am running out of time within the last week before Christmas, what with lemon curd (if I have enough eggies from my chooks left from any cakes etc I make as well!) with meringues from the whites, chocolate truffles, chocolate coated peppermint creams (thanks Pam!), HM Baileys to make too plus the bottling of my various grogs which should be ready that week. Still I suppose it should all keep the children amused....slave labour is obviously on the cards too!

No, they would eat it - it is added to their feed sometimes

 Ours (well I say ours, I don't own them, I'm merely just the work experience boy :lol: ) have molasses in these wheel feeders, and they turn the wheel to lick off the molasses. They seem to love it, and attack you if they see you filling up the feeders. And then they get all brown and sticky noses  it's funny to watch.

I used to give it to my horse, you can get it from horsey shops usually in a 1ltr bottle.

At the farm we had literally 10 huge crate bottle things which were something ridiculous like 100 gallon +, they had a tap on the bottom, which you empty into 15 litres to then fill up the wheel feeders. Believe me, the stuff is heavy, especially when you're freezing cold in the morning, and then have to battle with 50 sheep who are all trying to get inside the bottle :lol::lol:

Oh the memories!

Sorry to hijack the thread
