Just as brown is the new black, TUNA is the new RAISIN

Recommended Posts

Priscilla has been moulting for two months now and looks really fed up. She gets meal worms, poultry spice and all the rest in her porridge. I tried giving her cat food but she didn't like it. Today I decided the moult had gone on for long enough and I would try tuna.

Well.....I never thought I would find anything they would like better than raisins but there is a new favourite in town. I sat Prissy on my knee and she didn't even hesitate just started taking huge mouthfuls out of the bowl and scoffing it straight down :lol: . I eventually put the bowl down on the floor so they could all have some and she was not impressed to share it :notalk: .

I went inside to get some more and came back out. This time I sat Lilly on my knee as she is moulting too, she had managed a few mouthfuls when Dolly jumped up on my knee too and dived into the bowl  . I have never seen them eat any kind of food that fast, and the bowl has never been licked clean before  .

I just hope it perks my girls up now and that I haven't started a tuna addiction without getting health benefits from it :lol: .

Well, on your (or your girl's) recommendation I bought some and my two (third one is in dog crate in kitchen) dived in, the bowl was clean in seconds (and I mean seconds)

I would never have thought they would like tuna! Is this an Omlet tip or did you just try it out to see what happened?

Not tried mine with rasins yet but will also try those on your recommendation.

My little monsters also scoff tuna in record-quick time and no, there have been no fishy eggs.

The only problem I have is trying to sneak tuna out to them without Tubby Puddy getting to know. Her diet continues, so she's always hungry, and giving her all time favourite food to chooks  is just asking to be hissed and sulked at

That is so funny! My cats wandered up the garden once when I was giving the chickens some tuna and the expression on their faces was a picture. I explained to them that it was "cat tuna" and not the yellow fin they prefer, but it didn't go down well...they then had to have their own tin...

It was an omlet recommendation for girls who are moulting or need extra protein. I have been putting off trying it as I really didn't want sulks from my puss cats. Judging from other posts on here, my cats are not the only ones who get extremley jealous of the chicken treats  .

I gave them it tinned in spring water as too much salt is really bad for them. Be careful with the raisins as they all stick together in the bag. I break them up into single raisins before feeding them to the girls but when my back was turned one day I caught Dolly trying to eat a whole lump of about 20 stuck together that she had stolen out of the bag  .

It is pretty amazing how quickly they can empty a bowl isn't it  , I'll give her some more tomorrow as she layed her first egg for me today in 8 weeks so it must be helping, or maybe it's just a complete fluke.
