Eyren
Migsy, who is about 19 weeks old, has an increasingly red comb, regularly produces yellow droppings as per the Omlet guide and squats every time I go to stroke her, but still no sign of eggs! Not really a problem - I'm sure she'll settle down to it soon - but the suspense is killing us
theherd123
Oh do keep us up to date, how exciting!
PurpleHen
It's terrible the how they make you wait - isn't it The worse is everyone else asking "got any eggs yet? I'd have them in the oven by now" Just as well we're such a patient lot - and it's so worth the wait
Eyren
Got home this evening to find shredded paper from the nest box all over the run, and when I checked the eggport, there was a cute little brown egg! Only 35g (approx - I have conventional balance scales, not electronic ones), but it's a splendid start. Hopefully Migsy will settle down a bit now and stop turning the garden upside down looking for a nest site

Eyren
I think that as it's rather small I'll crack it first to check it has a yolk and is generally OK, then I'll poach it
