Guest
just got back from a bit of Christmas type shopping with my mum. You'll never guess what fell into the trolley! But it's okay, mum has bought it for me as part of my Christmas presents On one condition, I write the recipes down and then give it back to her to wrap up for Christmas day

pistachio
My kids and I love watching Nigella's Christmas. Before each show we write down a grid of squares (3 by 3) and in each box we write down a Nigella word (glowing, amber, plumptious, cloying, nirvana, delectable, oozing etc). We keep our words secret and share them just before the programme starts. Then we play NIGELLA BINGO where we cross out our words whenever she utters them. Very festive
Egluntyne
Brilliant idea. How does she work amidst all that clutter? I loved the tea light Christmas decs, but how silly of her to go out and leave naked flames burning on a Christmas Tree.
crazygal
Well, I found myself watching Nigella again last night- OH said "I thought you couldn't stand her?" and I said well its funny I especially like her "friends". The snorting guffawing chap with the "interesting" tie was hilarious last night.
Cinnamon
I have really enjoyed the series, & thought that she was not as gushy as usual. Or maybe its that her particular stlye of presenting suits Christmas time??? Anyhow, I have just made the Cranberry Sauce from her book, which was not featured on the show, but was a doddle to make & smells wonderful
crazygal
I'm sorry- I don't wish to offend anyone who likes the programme. The food she makes does look extremely yummy but I feel more at home with the River Cottage Christmas style of things.

chelsea
did anyone watch Willies chocolate christmas last night? Im not a big fan, I watched because his chocolate factory is about 5 minutes from me so I was being nosey to see if I knew anyone.
Janty
We watched it but he annoys me. He is never organised and leaves things to the last minute. I also find him quite arrogant but perhaps he just comes over badly on TV. There was a chef on Great British Menu, Galton Blackiston (I think that's his name) who came over very badly one year and apparently he's a really nice bloke. The programme was trying to hard IMO, so cliched (trying to typify the idyllic rural lifestyle - patterned wellies, bouncing dogs etc ) who on earth digs up their front lawn to cook dinner?!! And I would really like to know when they filmed it....cos we havent seen so much of a snowflake here this winter

crazygal
AND an hour of Jamie's Christmas tonight too. Gosh, all these Christmas lunches are making me fat!
chooklady
These cooking programmes just give you a lovely warm Christmas feeling, I love it. There are so many traditional things that many of us don't do anymore, like making and decorating a Christmas cake for one and it's a bit of a shame really so I'm all for the Nigella's of the world and HFW for putting a bit of tradition back. Sorry I was getting a bit heavy. Our Christmas is starting this Saturday with a reasonable sized party. Happy Christmas everyone, hope you all have a good one. Christian
2 helpings of Nigella tonight. I am delighted that we have a double serving this evening. I LOVE Nigella, she makes me laugh and is so enthusiastic about food. Food should be enjoyed and she certainly enjoys hers. Her kitchen is like a grotto and fills me with Christmas cheer every time I watch her do anything remotely Christmassy. Say what you like about her, but I think she is great
Egluntyne
Me too, although I have wanted to tidy her kitchen this series.
Cooks
I dont get to watch her much, but I was toying with the idea of getting her Christmas book, but bought Jamie's ministry one instead... might get hers after christmas in the sales
Cinnamon
Me too, although I have wanted to tidy her kitchen this series. I haven't had the urge to tidy her kitchen (funny that.....), but I have wanted to grab her hands & remove all her rings & jewelllery before she does her hands on mixing bit. It turns my stomach when TV chefs keep their rings on when they have their hands in dough or other food Apart from that I think she is great - gorgeous,a talented cook, festive & fun!!!
