So disappointed re my ebay bid for an eglu

Recommended Posts

Someone has now bid against me and whilst I am still the highest bidder this means that there is now a 4th bidder and that its going to go into a bidding war which I simply cannot afford to enter

So not fair *stomps feet and slams doors*

Anyone got any idea of other places to look? I am checking Gumtree but nothing on there.

You might be ok. Some people only bid once and if they're immediately outbid they don't bother again. Rablus tend to go for less than chicken eglus so don't be tempted to bid too highly.

Seen as you're still the highest bidder I wouldn't worry just yet.

If you do get outbid but it's still within your affordability don't re-bid until the very last minute to prevent a bidding war.

Good luck!

Something will come along even if this one doesn't.

I have been told by my hubby to keep an eye on the rablu on ebay as it might end up a bit of a bargain for eglu village?!! He then went on to say that we should have bid on the ebay eglu the other week that went for £99. I think that he's ill.

For all you people out there who are worried when your husband shows no enthusiasm for getting hens, let my hubby be an inspiration to you.

:D

That's a good point. I have bought an eglu and a cube as a result of adverts in the For Sale section.

also bear in mind that omlet will sell you an eglu without the run for under£300 (i think - que someone correcting me!!?!?!)

....brand new eglu (choice of colours) + home made (larger) run = more chooks....just a thought!!! good luck

Thanks for all your support but, its happened, I have been outbid  Its very disappointing because I was really hoping to get it. I've looked at how much they have been reaching and I have to say it makes no sense to me at all. Why spend £300 for a second hand one, which you will have to go and collect (and you would have to be really lucky for it to be in the same town as you) when for about £30 more (cant remember the exact figure) you can get a new one, delivered to your door :eh: and you get to choose the colour

I shall just have to keep saving for now.

Thanks again for all your support.

I won an eglu on ebay. i paid £310 for it. It is a mark one and a few years old but i got lots of extras including a run and extension, plus netting . i only had to drive to Preston which isnt far and i got it straight away. The waiting time from Omlet at the time was 6 weeks. It is green and has wooden roosts but it is doing the job for my girls and i may be getting a cube next year....... I fancy a purple one.......I am going to start saving after Christmas..... Oh and one of my dogs has a lump on her leg which is being removed on Monday and her surgery will not be covered by her insurance because she has had a lump before, she is 11 years old. That will be £600 so the cube and extra chooks may have to wait for awhile......Unless i win the lottery.

Sorry you got outbid :(

I have seen one go on Ebay with a few extras thrown in (worth no more than £20) for MORE than a new one costs!

As pointed out there is an advantage to buying secondhand as you get it straight away however unless you order the chickens with your Eglu Omlet seem to get them out pretty quickly (as they can send by carrier rather than delivering it themselves) someone in Jersey on the forum recently ordered one and got it just over a week later.

A reconditioned one will already be with Omlet so there should be no issues with waiting for stock too.

Just an eglu from Omlet is £240 plus delivery, My delivery was just under 2 weeks.
