Is this coop/run any good?

Recommended Posts

I have also read that these are not so strong, I do like the design of these though.

Check the sizes carefully - these always look big in the pics but are actually quite small especially height wise. Its a good idea just to measure this out on the floor amd upwards so you can see exactly what you are getting!

One careful word of warning - the seller has a poor feedback rating, I have looked at them in the past and the main complaint seems to be delivery times - I would like to point out that I have no personal experience of buying from them though and I am sure they have many satisfied customers.

Hi Raina

we recently bought one of these coop and I must say I was not impressed with the quality of it. My DH had to put some 2x2 sticks over gabs on the floor of the coop itself. Its okayish but not grand and I wouldn't buy it again. We have 4 chickens in it - 3 Black Rocks and 1 Orpington Mini. We extra got the bigger one as we thought it would give more space to the hens but I still feel its not enough for them. So we decided to save for an walk in run and just gonna use the coop for an introduction coop if we would ever get more chickens or sell it at a later date. Just attached some pictures so maybe that will help you.

Just a word about about the delivery - we won the item on ebay and got informed after a couple of days after winning that the item is still in port and we wouln't get it for another 10 days.

Me too, I won a coop from this seller and in the item listing in stated IN STOCK and delivery within 48hrs of cleared payment. After four days I called them (although constantly engaged for most of the day) and I was told my coop was held up in customs and they didn`t know when they woud be able to deliver it.

I cancelled my order and requested a refund which they actioned straight away. I then phoned Omlet and ordered my Eglu, I love it.

My brother has the coop that you are looking at and he has just said that it is smaller than he anticipated and although ideal for sleeping and egg laying for his three silkies the run is small and any hens housed in it would need access to free ranging.

Just had to comment on this. I ordered a coop from this company through ebay, and it was nothing but trouble. Took ages to arrive (same excuse, stuck in customs), and when it did it was not very good quality. I had to request a new part, as the ridge bar was broken, and it took well over a week to get it sorted. I did all the running

On the coop design, I would say look at the chicken shack version. I have the small chicken shack coop and am very pleased with it. The quality is very good, solid and well built. I got mine from elbec garden buildings :) I have extended the run for my four pekins, so that if they can't free range they have plenty of room.

I think you's be better off with an Eglu......I looked at these to start with, but the floor area is not actually all that big! Plus you have the ease of cleaning and added security of the eglu.

I have a wooden coop and run from this ebay seller. I went and picked it up in February. The quality isn't great and required Mr W's caprentry skills to sort it out. It's begining to fall apart. The staples holding the run together have started to pull apart and the doors don't function as doors- the slidy one doesn't slide and the hinged one requires a heafty kick to shut it. We are considering up grading to an Eglu or Cube.............
