chocchick
We've had a brown fluffy Christmas as Abbie tried the oven-ready look just before Christmas. She actually has a bald head now and looks a lot balder and more miserable than the photos suggest. Unfortunately we've now no eggs as she lays them but at least it means I only top up the food weekly (did she really eat all that ) I can't go past the window without going ahh and chuckling There's more on my blog..... Faye&Ant
ahhh bless her. One of our little girls is going through the moult and I thought she looked bald and really sorry for herself and was worried about her getting cold. Your girl looks like she literally dropped them all at once and doesnt look fussed at all!! Thanks for the sharing the photos, a definate ahhh moment p.s also hope the eggs start coming soon again
Egluntyne
Hi choccy. *waves* She looks as if she has plenty of new feathers growing there.
Larkspurs
Very useful that you've posted the pics, when my girls moult (when they arrive) it's good to have something to compare against otherwise I'd likely worry, so thank you! And good luck with the regrowth, how long does that normally take?
A chickychickychick-ENN!!
Is it wrong to think that that's a cool and trendy look?
Suzy
Really helpful as I thought my bullied hen had had all hers pulled out by her bully sister. It looks like she is moulting and she's stopped laying so it looks like that's what has happened. Thanks for putting these up here - really helpful! Hope she is growing them back quickly. chocchick
She is trying to grow back a warm outfit ASAP :wink:she was very self conscious up to now and I kept getting blurry dark pictures. (I think she'll be feathery in a week or so but maybe some patches) She is quite melancholy and spreading it to the others. She's getting more sympathy than OH and his man flu though
Ain't Nobody Here
Aww, bless . I've not experienced a moult yet either so that's useful to see!

brambles
Aw bless her, hope she's snuggled up warm at night with her friends! It's helpful to see what to expect!
Boybeck
I have three ISA Browns and they are showing no signs of slowing down as the weather gets colder. We get an egg from each of them daily without fail. When you you think they might start moulting? They are less than a year old, if that makes a difference. Egluntyne
It does make a difference. They may have mini moults, usually around the neck and knickers at any time and will likely have a big moult around October/November this year.
Chickvic
She is looking better. How long did it take her to start feathering up again? Ruby hasn't laid since October and although it wasn't a big moult like that she did get very scruffy looking. Ruby looks nearly full feathered but still has a pink comb, I'm not desperate for eggs, I just wondered.

My hybrids have never moulted like this in 2 years approx so it's quite interesting to see a proper annual moult from my Rhode Island Red and Welsummer. Katy ( ) hasn't bothered moulting at all this year.
