Tiggy
WW is doing layers mash with bokash - has anyone tried it?
moomin
Yep, my chooks love it but I use it as a treat in addition to their pellets. I takes them an age to eat and I'm happy as they are getting a healthy treat.
Tiggy
I'll try it, shame ems are not added to ordinary organic layers pellets
Gamebird
I buy layers mash from my local feed merchant, Bokashi bran from Wiggly Wigglers and mix them together every now and then when I think they need it. You can feed Bokashi bran separately if you wish or mix it in with their pellets as well.
Janty
I use the layers mash with bokashi from WW. That's the only feed I use now. My girls have it dry in their feeders and I make a porridge from it every morning for their breakfast.

jlo
My two love it but it is very dusty and goes all over the place. I also make a porridge from it in the cold weather which goes down quite well.
jomaxsmith
I feed Marriages mash as their main feed and mix Bokashi from WW in with it. I've heard that WW mash is very dusty - last time mine had a very dusty mash (Marriage's organic) they tipped most of it on the floor looking for the best bits so I went back to non-organic which isn't milled as finely. MedusA
I tried the mash with bokashi, but now prefer to just add bokashi to their pellets. It's less wasteful, messy and dusty IMO. Bokashi is great for other things too - compost buckets, mealworm-breeding etc.
helenmb
My two love it but it is very dusty and goes all over the place. I also make a porridge from it in the cold weather which goes down quite well. Its not as dusty as non-bokashi organic layers mash/meal, that is just like powder. I used to give my girls the WW stuff but as I now have 7 girlies they were getting through it pretty pronto so started to mix my own with Bokashi Bran and Smallholder Layers Meal. I got some of the WW stuff as I was ordering anyway from them and used it for the first time in several weeks and they loved it more that their usual stuff. I find it helps keep them occupied if they are not free ranging when I'm at work etc so less chance of squabbles. They still have pellets available too if they want them but the prefer mash. I make it into a kind of porridge with yoghurt most mornings, they really love that as well.
Vanessa
Hiya I brought some bokashi yesterday at dobbies and was wondering with how much feed I have to mix it? Its 600g. Anybody any ideas?
Salop Chuck
WW is doing layers mash with bokash - has anyone tried it? Yes I've tried it and my girls love it. I use mash because for some reason they wouldn't touch layers pellets. I bought a 5kg bag to start with and have just ordered my next bag. I shall certainly stick with this product and WW are good to deal with. I also buy bokashi from WW and place a small amount a bowl for them to eat on demand. One of my girl produced stinking brown diarrhoea for several months, in spite of regular worming with Flubenvet and VermX and giving her bokashi has pretty much cleared up her problem. Hope this helps
