quickcluck
Hi there, a few months ago we had a bald girlie and decided it was a pecking problem and purple spray and ukadex sorted that. Now though all 6 girls have identical bald botties! Cant see any pecking going on and no feathers are laying about. We are worming them at the moment with flubenvet just incase and did redmite powder back in november time. Any ideas anyone? Thanks
Christian
How old are they? Could they be moulting? Does seem strange that they all have bare bums Have you seen any lice or critters on them? The red mite powder should work on lice, so I would give them all a thorough dosing and do it again 7 days later. Good luck with it.
quickcluck
Thanks christian, will do the red mite thing again. any tips on the application? Last time we tried Eglutines washing up liquid puffer, but am not so sure how effective it was
Christian
Do they have a dust bath? I use a cat litter tray with a lip all the way round. Filled up with wood ash and dry compost and a good measure of mite powder They self administer Or else a two person job; one to hold and one to sprinkle. quickcluck
Well Harriet has been to see Mr Vet!!! He was Lurvley....... and thinks it's the garden Lime we put in the run! So he gave us some cream to put on them, that should be fun Now we will take the top few inches off the run and replace, sans the lime with compost and bedding..... Ta dah.... chickens with feathers Well that's the theory!!!
The Dogmother
Hmmm, lime shouldn't cause that - it's just calcium carbonate - chalk. Are any of them pecking at each others or their own feathers?
