emily95
Hi I recently had a go at needle felting and I really liked it . I would like to do it again but I don't know where to get the needles or the merino wool from. Does anyone know where I can get these from? Thankyou Emily x

ubereglu
When you say needle felting, do you mean knitting something to felt or using felted wool to knit things? If so I can help with both!
carrie
I would love to try this and am considering spending my Christmas money on a book and starter pack from this web site http://www.gilliangladrag.co.uk/ her bags are amazing. And buy a needle felting kit. Let us know how you get on. Caroline
carrie
I knew I had another web site to look at. She makes some amazing bags, not quite my taste though, take a look, her blog is interesting. www.fibrespacecrafts.com/

emily95
Ubereglu : I mean using Merino wool tops and a special needle ( not sure what it's called! ) and soap + water to make them into different shapes / items Thanks for your help though Emily x
ubereglu
Ah, I think I know what you mean. What size needles would you need? When you say merino wool do you mean the fibre or yarn?
emily95
Erm, sorry I'm not sure.... Does the size of the needle matter? Sorry I am a beginner to this and have only had a go once Emily x
ubereglu
Well if you're knitting then yes, but this will depend on the thickness of wool.
Snowy
Needle felting isn't knitted - from what Omletina told me, you use unspun wool and stab it and bash it with thin needles, using soap and water, directly into the shapes you want. Sounds like great fun!
Lesley
I have done needle felting - I bought my stuff from twistfibrecraft - they are brilliant, really quick delivery. http://www.twistfibrecraft.co.uk/felt/felt.html I've had Merino tops from them and also the Funky Scarf kits - and lots of other bits as well. SAB
Oh, I should never have looked at this, it looks too inviting and I am not meant to be spending any money just now as I am currently on adoption leave and so pretty skint! The annoying thing is that once I am back at work and on full wages again I won't have the time or will to learn new crafts - typical! craftyhunnypie
I have a needle felting kit I would be willing to let someone on here have for nowt, as long as they promise to make me a chicken in return! PM me if you'd like it! Needles & variousMerino wools. I gave up as I kept stabbing my finger & it was extremely painful as the needles are barbed! First come, first served I'm afraid! Chook n Boo Mum
Emma, if no-one else shows any interest, I would be. I have some of the fibres which I got from HobbyCraft (and the pup decided to shred all over the floor ) At the time I couldn't justify getting the full kit for yet another craft (DH goes every time I bring something new home!!), so was going to have a go with the traditional method using a bamboo place mat I already had! Just need the time now!! Sha x

Omletina Kyckling
Sorry, I've not been in for a while, as I've been poorly sick. As Snowy says, I've done needle felting and also nuno felting. I got my stuff from a place called Wingham Wool, which is near Rotherham/Sheffield. Their website is: http://www.winghamwoolwork.co.uk/index.php It's great fun and very satisfying. I made some needle felted teddy bears.

Emily xxx Hi, They were time consuming, but quite easy to make. I used to make sewn mohair bears so had a bit of a head start. I'll try to take some photos of some of my felted stuff and pop them on here.
