I just hope I have a couple more decades before the springs completely go and I have to be careful when zipping up my trousers . I'll never buy a cheap bra again though. Sounds like a few of you could sew them together and use them for bras. I wish I could do the photo thing and post pictures. SAB Posted January 16, 2009 Share Posted January 16, 2009 Well after I get over my laughter, I will try to answer the original question. As money is tight this year my 12 year old daughter and I are getting straight into making things so we can have a box of ready made presents for birthdays and other occasions throughout the year, including December 2009. So far we are working through some kits she has accumulated and that we have never got round to doing. At this point we have made several braclets, rings, and a necklace suitable for children; a pair of earrings; some cards; and a rag doll. We have also collaborated on a sequins art dragon picture for her bedroom. And she has a canvass art painting she is going to do for her room too. Next projects include - a cuddly frog, a cuddly squirrel, and a couple more rag dolls. I will try to keep updating on this site to keep us motivated! SAB Posted January 16, 2009 Share Posted January 16, 2009 I must confess that I would not be able to be so industrious if I were working at present, but am currently still off on adoption leave with the 5 year old boy who joined our family a few months ago. As he has me all day, I try to set special time aside for my other 2 kids when they come in from school. My daughter is 12 and full of energy and keeps asking "what can we make now?" (Special time with my 9 year old boy is always Dr Who related, by the way!). I actually am really enjoying being at home full time at present but after Easter it will be back to work, though reducing to a 4 day week and I have month of school summer hols when I don't work. Being on greatly reduced wage when on adoption leave has also motivated the creativity as we are feeling our own credit crunch just now - I seem to make a lot of soup and cakes these days too as more economical, but no way I will be able to keep up this "good life" once back at work! I have decided that at the end of each month I will photograph everything we have made in that month and post it on this site - will be good motivation to keep at it! Chook n Boo Mum Posted January 26, 2009 Share Posted January 26, 2009 I've just finished 3 swimming "turban" towels for 3 of my DD's class mates. DD went to school with one (as did a friend) with a shop-bought one & came out of the pool at home-time wearing them. I was so impressed & knowing just how easy they are to make, I said in my usual fashion to a Mummy who passed comment, "I can make you one".....I've had 3 other orders too. Will take a piccy of DD modelling one if I remember in the morning. I ought to make her one too now, hers are looking a bit threadbare in comparison it has to be said!!! Best bit is I'm using the towels my sis donated to me months ago, (saying they were for the dogs, but they looked perfect ), so they are absorbent rather than brand new towelling where the water sits on the surface, and they are doubly recycled!! The binding is new though, I thought I owed the new owners that at least!! So white or cream towelling with bright pink, turquoise or lilac binding around the edge & seam.
