Must be mad

I can not believe it, I feel so guilty.

I have only just been able to write today. My 11 year old son came home from school on Friday to find our youngest chick dead in the run, she had no feathers on her head but there was no blood. We are so upset, she had been in the run with the others for a couple of weeks without a problem.

We hatched Billie ourselves at the end of the summer, she was our first chicken. In October we bought a cube and some hens ranging between 15 - 18 wks. We started to introduce her slowly at the end of November, by letting them free range together, which was ok, she was a bit nervous of them but soon, settled down. We then started put her in the cube at night which was fine. We then left them in the run and they all settled in fine. And then to come home to find her dead. I can not believe it,I feel so guilt for leaving her in the run.:cry:

Sorry to hear about your chick, although if she'd been in with the others and it was fine then it was probably something completely unexpected that you wouldn't have been able to do anything about. Sometimes they just keel over, I hope your son is OK.

Lots of love
