quickcluck
Hi guys.. Have been looking into these, as a form of entertainment for the girls.... does anyone have any experience of them? Do they work or last longer than a day? I've used something similar from the pet shop and it was gone in minutes! They are expensive so thought I would check first! Thanks K

The Dogmother
They last for ages and are great for keeping them out of mischief if they have to be confined to the run.
sandyhas3chucks
As usual, you just can't tell with these girls. They are all individuals.
surferdog
Mine demolished the first one in days. Waited until I ordered 3 more and then completely lost interest
judith67
Mine lasted over a week, probably 2, and I have 3 chickens. They are a bit expensive though I tend to get one a month and when its gone its gone
buffie
They last for ages and are great for keeping them out of mischief if they have to be confined to the run. With 12 at a block, ours lasted Xmas eve to boxing day It's a nice treat every now and again. They'll be getting one in March next. TAJ
If we are talking the proper around £7 each chciken version (some shops sell cheaper smaller ones for other birds and pets) I would highly recommend them. Mine ignored it for over a month, but once they realised it was food used it. With three hens mine last 2-3 months each. The best price seems to be from flytessofancy. helenmb
Mine do like them but prefer them if they have got a bit wet, I found this out by mistake as they ignored them a bit but the block got caught by a down pore of rain which made them suddenly more attractive! So I always have one available in their run as they are in it quite a bit during the winter. I think they are good at keeping their beaks less sharp which is why they are recommended if you have a hen who is a bit pecky - keeps them interested and wears their beaks down a smidge too. Helly Welly
I got the girls one as a christmas pressie and it lasted a couple of days but seeing as we have 10 chickens i didn't think this was too bad. Actually, i buy spring greens from Tesco and hang them up in the run. They might only last a day but they are only about 75p for 2-3 stalks per bag. I have made a metal hooh with a champagne cork on the end to cover the sharp point and this is always hanging in the run so i can easily add the greens with no fuss. Seagazer
I used one which the girls were interested in to begin with but they left about a third of it. I've still got one left. I might try them with it again, its been a while.

I buy these too, but the didn't have any today so they are getting savoy cabbage instead. Love the idea with the cork and hook very inventive. hillfamily
I was a given a free one with a recent Flytesofancy order and my girls loved it :D Lasted quite a few days....not bad as I have 10 chooks :D I've have since ordered a few more and they are still enjoying them - reminds me I must pop another one in their run My girls also enjoys greens which I pop inside a large fat ball feeder hanging from the roof of the run. It makes them last longer and it's great fun watching the girls sway in time with the swing of the feeder as they peck at the greens
henny penny
Hi I have bought these but my three chickens demolished them quite quickly. I did find some seed blocks for wild birds from a garden centre that were not high fat suet ones and they quite like them. I think I would get pecka blocks again if i could buy them locally as the postage seemed quite expensive
Barkisland
My girls have just about finished their second one, and I got them in October. They ignored the first one for quite a while, but once they realised it was edible.....
JEAN
We got one at about new year and there's not a lot left now. They seem to have really enjoyed it.
